The Villa Thalkatuwa

Villa Thalkatuwa is much much more than just an amazing place to stay! Don, his Dad and all his stuff are the most loving, helpful and caring people I have met in my 9 months in Sri Lanka. The Villa outside of the House has the most mesmerizing energy to it. The King size bed, and the open air outside shower that is attached to the house make this stay the most comfortable I have been to in my last 3 years traveling.

Besides all that which is already so amazing and almost unbelievably good, the food was one of the best I have a had in my 9 Months stay. Everything is fresh from their or neighbours farms.

If this is not enough to check it out, Don has build a Spa for his guests for Massages, Sauna, Manicure and Pedicure and even a hair salon is attached.

Don brings more than 40 years of experience to his place which makes it a paradise!! The Nature Walks through the rice fields and absolute stillness with no neighbours that are loud or noisy.

These words only reflect a small part of what this stay gave me and who decides to stay there as well will see the magic from this place! Thanks so much!!

This is a lovely place, if you love nature, you should come over and stay! I lived in an independent room in the villa, and it allows me to have my personal space and engage with the locals at the same time. It’s just 6KM away from the town, so I usually rode the bike there which was provided by Don, it’s really convenient. And there are so many wild animals and domestic animals which allows you to spend your time with. Please come over and explore as much as you want, it would beyond your imagination.

My plan was to stay only one night but the place is so nice and tranquil that I came back several times for one or two nights. Unfortunately my time schedule did not allow to stay for a longer time.
Don is a superb host who makes you feel very welcome and he is very helpful.
Food is really great.
I am looking forward to be back

The best place to spend and to stay and to be in brief a small paradise with all inclusive ( Swimming pool, best massage with a stream bath ect) The way how Mr. Charith and his father and their staff took care of us was fantastic. And the rooms were clean and was superb and the feeling was like staying in a five star hotel. And the foods that we ordered there in that villa was superb and delicious. A best place for a reasonable price

The villa is the perfect place for a holiday trip. It is very big with lots of greenery which is really calming. The rooms are very clean and it is also very private.
Don is the best host you could ever imagine and he really is one of the most friendliest persons I have ever met! He helped me so much during my stay, drove me around and showed me a lot of things like the temples nearby and he even got me to Kandy. From the beginning on he was so nice and friendly to me that I felt so welcome. He takes so good care of his guests! The whole family and staff at the villa are such nice people. They cooked for me and it was so delicious and they always helped me with everything with a smile on their face.
They are such a lovely team and I felt so good at their place. I had such a good time there, relaxing at the pool and walking around in this beautiful garden which looks like paradise!
I can totally recommend this place to everybody and thank you so much Don for the beautiful time it was so nice to meet you and stay at your place 😊

This place is PARADISE. Hosts are amazing! They will make you feel at home and experience the best warm service during your whole stay. This place has everything that you need for a relaxing vacation or even just to unwind from the buzzing city. They have spa (you can get the best stone massage, ayurveda massage, name it!), salon (if you wish to add more good aura to yourself for a new look or even for mani and pedi), sauna was amazing!!! Comfort food at its best! If you love sunset and sunrise they got you covered! They have a tree house so you can get the best sunset moments. If you wish to refresh and just chillax by the pool, worry not as they have a nice pool too! Zen relaxing music will be playing all over the property 24/7. This place is worth every penny you spend. Excited for our next stay!

Wonderful place to start and/or end your trip to Sri Lanka. Don will pick you up from Colombo airport (about an hour and 15 minutes ride) and he's a safe driver.
The villa lies in a rural area, very green and nice & quiet. Don is super friendly, helpful and a good laugh. We've had more than one lovely meal here. Also a 'high' tea in the watch tower overlooking the sunset over the rice fields. Bicycles are at your disposal to explore the surrounding area.
All in all, staying here was a great experience and we highly recommend it!

This is a perfect holiday stay if you want to relax, for a very very good price for what it gives you in return. A great welcome with flower necklaces and wide open heart smiles by Don and his family. First few hours and we thought why we didn’t come here earlier?

One might think ohhh it’s far from the sea, but honestly you will forget the sea once you are here. It’s a great pool, in shadow of the palms, the place is really big and offers great privacy. The best that you can use kitchen or if you don’t feel like preparing your meals, Don’s mom makes perfect home made food. You can order anything of your choice at a very reasonable price. They help with everything!!! If you want to go out, they will help arrange, if you want to go to the sea, they will arrange, if you are preparing your own meal, they will cut your vegetables for you or help you do dishes and all with a wide beautiful smile!!! Never ending smiles!!!

They make your holidays real holidays worth every penny!!! Very generous family who are never making you feel you are outsider. Holidays are to forget problems and feel loved and made special to feel about your self. Here you get all. Not to forget mentioning, it’s very much far from the rush and noise. It’s complete peace here. It’s lush green, the entire neighborhood is very natural and calm. There is a lot of place for a nice peaceful walk, many trees that cover you as a shadow. The entire villa furniture is handmade from wooden remains Don has crafted to perfection! Very artistic place and very very worth everything. All you can saw is wowwwww!!!

Family run villa that has a couple of rooms too rent, garden chalet room and 1 annex room. Very reasonable rates US$40 per night with A,/C including breakfast. If you want to just unwind, sit on a veranda and cool off in the swimming pool its perfect. You can walk along village roads and the owner has horses in a separate field.

We were the first guest since covid and the place was well maintained and the friendly ower gives first class service with serving breakfast and dinner in the open sided garden pavillion.

You could not ask for a more wonderful stay anywhere! Such sweet, attentive family. Such amazing food. Such a relaxed stay while being treated with so much care. Lovely village and friendly people. Highly recommend!

A beautiful and relaxing place hosted by a super friendly family. We stayed 2 nights in one of the chalets and enjoyed full board service. Food, atmosphere, rooms - everything amazing!
