With so many expensive places around with tourists food and high prices, this is a local vendor with delicious steamed buns. With different flavours to choose from I took a savory one with pork and a sweeter one with walnuts inside. Both of them are delicious! When you eat inside, you can make use of the free water and green tea as well. Nice stop over for a small snack!

We cant get enough of the steam buns. We started with 7 and ended up buying 13 in total. There is free tea. With nothing much open in winter in Tsumago, this shop is a welcome rest place to recharge.

Great atmosphere and good food. The owners are very welcoming, the place is calm and quite warm considering there is ice in the street. Recommend the pumpkins and the meat oyaki (pastry)

Looks like a husband and wife shop where they steam the buns right there and sell them at a VERY cheap price. We loved them, really made our day watching them make the buns we were eating and not paying a fortune for something very authentic.

We had the walnut option, it was delicious. The lady that makes the buns is so cute, she doesn’t speak English but she knows how to say all the types in English so you know what you’re ordering. There are pork, walnut, pumpkin, cabbage, vegetable option and they’re all delicious!

Excellent food for when a walk around town get's you a little hungry. And these may be the best dumplings we had, when visiting Japan.

The best buns I've ever had. My partner and I ended up buying about 22 buns to eat for dinner and breakfast as our next stay was in a fairly remote area. We had almost every flavour and they were great (bean, walnut, pork and vegetable, and vegetable).

Delicious buns! We had a few pork and a couple vegetable for lunch. We sat inside and were offered complimentary tea and pickled vegetables. Would recommend.

This place is located in the quiet place of Kiso valley. The shopkeeper who makes the buns explained to us the difference between each bun and the taste differences. Must-try buns in this place for its flavor.

These buns are just amazing. Especially the walnut/chestnut (?) bun. The old man is so nice and his reaction to us complimenting the food was unforgettable.

The old gentleman at this pastry shop recommended I have the pickled vegetable bun - heavenly snacking after the Magome-Tsumago walk.
