Okuma Beach Military

After being on the island for years, we finally made the trip up to Okuma. I’m so glad we did! It was a beautiful weekend escape with many fun little things for the whole family. We stayed at the Sunset Villa cabin for our first visit, unsure of the camping situation. Next time we will stay at their campgrounds. There’s so many! And all with a beautiful view of the setting sun. If you’re worried about being able to get a spot to camp at (with being first come first served) I’d say that shouldn’t be an issue. Go! You’ll be glad you did.

This is my favorite resort on the island. It is reality good price for military in a luxury place. All of the water activities are a very decent price and the cabins are a really good price as well. There is also room for camping there as well. My family and I come here at least 3 times a year and sometimes more. The multi family rooms are also pretty good. If you are military, don’t leave the island without coming here at least once. But you have to make your reservations in advance as it gets packed.

I don’t want to say too much about this place because it’s awesome! Great getaway for the family multiple times a year. The staff is super friendly and make you want to come back.

It’s really quiet up there and you can star gaze all night. The beach and water is awesome with lots of water sports activities, go carts, small golf course, cabins, campgrounds and a shopette (PX) for snackages!

This is our favorite beach in the island. It has powdery sand and the beach is calm. Not too crowded because only SOFA nembers can enjoy this resort. Be ready to book 2-3 months in advance especially during summer because they sell out pretty quick. We've only tried it once at Surfside Restaurant, the pizza & chicken wings are decent. We prefer bringing our own food and grill barbeque instead.

Cheap, friendly, and great camping spot for SOFA. Tent camping spots are large enough for tents of all sizes. All staff are extremely friendly and kind.

The only issue is that you cannot reserve tent sites by phone. You must drive all the way to Okuma to reserve sites. Sometimes you could drive an hour and half one way to find out the tent campsites are booked and nothing is available.

Regardless, the place is very nice, very well maintained, and cheap.

The north beach (right side when in base) is so pretty and calm, the sand is so fine that it is gentle on your feet! The dock was fun to jump off into the water.

We are at Kadena visiting family. Mostly came to see Okuma because a friend had been stationed here in the late 80's. This would be a place I would like to spend several days relaxing if I had the time.

The north beach needs some cleaning but otherwise it was very enjoyable.

This place is amazing! We love it every time. Get there early if you want a golf cart, they go fast! Absolutely beautiful. Perfect for the family weekend getaways. Everything from fishing to wakeboarding, they have it all. The restaurant is delicious everytime.

As long as you remember that it’s not a luxury resort but rather a all in one camp ground then you’ll be happy. It’s basically adult/family summer camp with multiple lvls of affordable comfort from pitching a tent in either the family or adult only section to very decent cabins.
Reason I love this place is because it is the complete package with a great place to eat, a ton of water activities, tours, rentals, beach mart, golf cart rental, golf course. When I entered the base for the first time my 1st thought was this is what Okinawa should be like. It’s one of those places that makes you relax and forget all the stress from your life:)

Rooms need to updated, some of the same bungalow I stayed in the 90's. That's have added new single family log cabin style units. Other services and staff are excellent. It is always a pleasure to get away from the grind of the military and relax.

Amazing views, activities, staff, and an absolutely charming Commander currently in service! I will definitely be visiting again 🧜🏻‍♀🌞🏖

For a private beach for the military, and the first for me. This was an experience to swim in the water, kayaking, camping, jet skis, more. The beach is packed on the weekends; but is super empty on a weekday if you get some time off. If you are looking for a quiet time it's best then. The view is incredible and the water is nice when you come in the summer. The drive up from Naha or Kadena isn't too bad. Just be careful of traffic.

Hands down the most beautiful sand on the entire island. Wonderful cove and very affordable pricing. Fun in the sun for the whole family.

After 14 years I finally went to Okuma, the military side. We are staying at the Japanese and came on base to eat at the restaurant. The new cabins close to the gate look really nice. The regular rooms look a bit run down but I’m sure they are fine. There is a ton of stuff to do and the environment was very relaxed.

Best mini vacation on island! Wonderful views, plenty of activities for ALL age groups, very affordable, and food is delicious! You can rent a 4 person tent, golf carts, banana boat rides, jet skis, snorkeling, corn hole boards, and so much more! They have clean bathrooms and the hot water works great! 10 out 10 already planning our next trip :)

We absolutely loved staying at Okuma. The staff was very helpful and kind. Our room was a studio, and it was kept clean everyday. There are a lot of fun water activities, and the restaurant was good. The atmosphere was very family oriented. Overall, it was a great stay for a great price. 100% will stay again.

Great place! Been here over 5 years and still can’t get enough of this place. A little pricey for the water activities, but everything is extremely well so so worth the price. Check in and check out is easy, rentals are easy. All pictures are from less than 48 hour stay.
