Yakumo Village

I am so grateful to be part of this organization through wwoof. It is my first experience for wwoofing and it was so extraordinary.

My main aim was to meet with Japanese to speak Japanese language. After one week, I am much more confidant talking to people in Japanese.

Here the organization in Genki Mura or Yakumo Village is so well organized. It was a great joy for me being part of this. I felt so much compassion and patience underlying in every moment I was there. Nobody is perfect. But this place shows how perfect a group of people can be when they are united with love.

I felt so comfortable in this environment. I will be recommending everyone around me specially who are interested in learning Japanese wwoofing and Yakumo.

It was so nice to hear the stories of people I worked together with. I learned a lot that I could never learn from a book or film. Working together with them gives an opportunity to make observations from inside. They also feel close to you and open themselves

Every day I was doing a different job. So I was learning new words and knowing new people and getting different instructions. One day I worked together genki mura, the other day I was collecting onions with a really special person Morioka San. The next day I was taken to Hakodate for site seeing where I was able to go to an Ainu museum. I worked for the guest house. I worked for the restaurant and also for the bakery. So with all this different works I learned a lot.

It was such a friendly atmosphere. I felt like they treated me as a King who visited Yakumo instead of someone who came there for voluntary work. So generous hospitality. We were able to go to Hakodate, to an onsen. We had a nabe party together. I was able to listen Japanese drums. And we went to nature and observed eagle. I met with their friends. So all this gave me a feeling of a family.

I am a vegetarian and every day I was able to eat wonderful vegetarian food that was specially cooked for me I will defiantly recommend this place and specially for wwoofing.
