Went here during May23, peak blossom. It does look like moss from far and like a carpet too. There are plenty of photo spots and some eateries selling ice creams and fast foods.

If you have problems walking, there is a mini bus service going around the park. The driver will drive very slowly so you can take pictures with ease and enjoy the view.

We didn't have enough time to explore every inch of the park because of tight schedule. Maybe next time.

Highly recommend if northern Hokkaido is part of your plan. From Sapporo will take about 4-6h. So it won't be a day trip.

If you are here in Hokkaido during mid-May, you must visit this Park as a bucket list to do. At this time the pink moss flowers are in full bloom like heavenly flowers on earth. The park also have food stores that sell convenient food and snacks only. Only wish they have a gourmet restaurant to complete a wonderful day. The rainy season at this time of the year is also problematic.
The 6-hour drive along the freeway from Sapporo does not provide opportunity for restaurant breaks.

Held from May 3 to early June
Shibazakura, also known as moss phlox, is the representative flower of Spring in Hokkaido. Higashimokoto Shibazakura Park is one of the most well-known places for shibazakura in the whole prefecture! The ten-hectare park is painted with the most glorious pink and white colors from early May to early June. At the top of the hill is an observatory from which to take stunning photographs of the picturesque landscape. The photogenic pink torii shrine gate is also a popular spot to take pictures. Enjoy a leisurely stroll and find that perfect place to capture the mass of pink that signals Spring’s true arrival in Northern Japan!

Great place to visit. The Shibazakura were just started to come into full bloom. You can walk the paths up through the flowers, drive go-karts around a track at the bottom, get a helicopter view from above. The flowers were spectacular. The Sakura coloured soft serve from one of the vendors wasn't bad either.

What a beautiful way to spend a couple of hours. Admission is 500 yen and parking is plentiful and free. There is a bus tour for a fee but I think walking is the best way to see it if you don't mind stairs and mulch trails. There are also go-karts which looked fun. There are many photo spots and lots of helpful staff. There isn't a lot of variety in terms of food stalls but enough to keep you satisfied if you need a snack!

First time seeing so many colorful flowers covering the whole hill and it's a wonderful experience. A must visit destination if you are visiting Hokkaido during spring summer period.

It's worth more than 500yan when you arrive at the right time. You could see all hill are covered with pink and white Shibazakura during blossom time ,usually at May, if you come with your lovers, it would be romantic! The stall inside the park also sell special good during festival, like Shibazakura favor ice cream or something else.

We were too early. The flowers were just beginning to bloom, but they would be pretty nice to see in a acouole of days. ❤

Amazing!!! Covers 100,000+ m2 of violet, pink and white phlox subulata flowers that carpet the entire hill-slopes. For only a few weeks in May-June you have a tiny window to see them in full bloom.

Personally I think this is better shibazakura park in comparison to Takinoue. Same entrance fee of 500 yen. Hike to the top for a superb view. You got to try the shibazakura softcream too.

Beautiful view and not too crowded (as for May 16th). The Go-carts were fun too!

A large park that is famous of "Shibazakura" (a kind of small purple flower), which run by a group of local farmers. The flower blossoms around middle of May and the view is spectacular.
The location is quite far away from the city, travelers without car could visit here by bus (Abashiri Kanko Kotsu, 網走観光交通) and taxi. Meanwhile, the park also provides free shuttle bus (needs reservation by telephone) from the bus station during the blossom period.

I think this place is better than the Takinoue Park of Pink Moss. This place is easier to park and get around.
The flowers were Beautiful.

There was absolutely no one here when I visited in 12 June 2023. Peaceful and quiet.
Because there were no more flowers in bloom and park was closed although not updated on google.😭

I was really surprised by this place. I was expecting just a nice hillside garden, but it ended up being a low-key amusement park that did well to keep the amusement from ruining the park.

You will never known where is the best place for Shibasakura until you come here. What a fantastic wide scenery of pink moss (Shibasakura) on the mountain.
