Shirakaba

great hotel. rooms were comfy and nice. the (included) breakfast was delicious and japanese, and also included was a really nice private onsen you could book for yourself + your group that was within the hotel.
had a good dry room, also ski waxing service (for a small fee).
went out of their way to help my dad get to and from the clinic when he had a tumble, really good service

We found shirakaba very last minute as wanted to extent our stay. And we must say it is a very pleasant surprise to find such quality stay for party of 6. Location is spot on as very walkable to the centre. What we are impressed is the attention to details of the service. Bins clear everyday. Dishes laying in the sink washed. Little accessories ranging from tote bags, robe for onsen to matcha biscuits welcoming us when check in. Breakfast is delicious. Wide ranging and appetising for first thing in the morning. Amazing coffee. Helped us move our massive load of luggage. Family run and nothing is too much trouble. Not on the cheap side (Could be due to our last minute) but a gem helped us enjoy our stay.

Overall: What a beautiful place - spacious rooms, modern facilities;

Inside: traditional style rooms, but all with completely new bathrooms and amenities; a wonderful relaxing atmosphere

Service: warm and welcoming and friendly; personal and easy to talk to

Facilities: sentō bath inside the hotel; a sauna; and a fantastic, fantastic restaurant with a nice mix of more western and creative modern Japanese homemade style foods

Location: In the middle if the small village - you can go anywhere on foot

Nice big rooms with private toilet and sink. Nice onsen baths on the lower level, as well as ski equipment drying room. Central location, 1 block from bus terminal where you can catch the ski shuttle and the bus to the train station. Excellent Japanese breakfast.

We came as four skiiers and had no idea what to expect, as the tourist office found Shirakaba for us when everything seemed to be fully booked. And we praise ourselves lucky to have come here. It is a stone's throw from the bus station, close to everything, has very attentive and kind staff would speak some English. Our equipment arrived with courier service and was waiting for us in their storage and drying rooms. The rooms are traditional Japanese with tatami mats and futons to sleep on, which we found very nice and gave a fully Japanese experience. The Japanese breakfast was superb and varied every day, and we found it a much better alternative than paying extra for western breakfast with their affiliate next door. They even have their own onsen (hot spring)! We took baths in the morning and evening and took so much pleasure in this surprising bonus. This type of accomodation is not for those who expect a king size bed and bacon in the morning. But we came from a large luxury hotel in Tokyo the week before and let me tell you: I'd pick Shirakaba in a heartbeat. Happy skiing!

Lovely hotel and the staff was so wonderful. There was a mixup with our reservation and they were extremely accommodating. I would definitely stay there again.

Newly renovated, very clean and comfortable. Very friendly staff and excellent restaurant. I wouldn't call it budget at all as stated in the google description.

コースディナー付のプランで宿泊しました。何と言っても食事が美味しい。東京から来たシェフによる本格コース料理。そしてきれいなお部屋。暖房もしっかりで全く寒くない。部屋からの景色は雪国温泉街そのもの。朝食はビュッフェでこれまた最高に美味しい。アクセスは街の中心にありバツグンにいいです。周りの外湯やバーにも徒歩5分(近いとこは2分くらい)以内でいけちゃいます。

とても素敵なお宿です。お料理も美味しいし、館内も清掃が行き届いていて快適に宿泊させて頂きました。
スタッフの方も親切な方々でした。コロナ禍で大変な時期ですがお体に気を付けて頑張ってください。
来年も予約させて頂きます。
