Lovely place, the day I went on was a rainy day and I didn’t managed to explore as much as I would have liked but I love cosy quaint places just like this, it would helped the village a lot if their government provided more tourist friendly ways to travel there, as I feel like a lot of the shops deserve more people visiting them as they have really lovely porcelain ware there! Even if you don’t buy anything it’s worth dropping by!

The town is one of the must-go destinations when travelling around this area. Window shopping and photo taking are a wonderful experience for almost everyone if you're not into porcelain buying. We took a break at a shop that is also a coffee house. They served hand-dripped coffee together with complimentary sweet snacks. The best part was that everything was served on gorgeous porcelainware! It was an excellent half-day visit to the village.

It is a beautiful place to walk through. Hot in summer, any other time would just make it better. A good spot to spend a few hours wondering through the pottery shops and see the artisans painting and dipping their pottery.

A very quaint little pottery village. An ideal place for a short stroll through it's narrow streets.

Super cool and cute, little ceramics village with a beautiful view of mountains in the background. Their are tons of different potteries shops located in this village. With all the shops offering such beautiful things, it will be difficult to decide on which pottery to buy.

There are many shops here with varying prices. In November and in April there are pottery festivals where one can find great deals on some choice pieces. In July/August there is a wind chime festival that is so peaceful. To get to the village it can be a little difficult relying on public transport, but there are buses available. Be sure to mind the time of the last bus. If not it is a fairly cheap taxi ride back into Imari town proper. The shop owners are very friendly and this is a great place to buy a nice souvenir or quality ceramics.

A must visit for ceramic products lover, #Okawachiyama village is
大川内山 is a small, isolated village in the mountains just outside central #Imari #Kyushu #Japan.
Alongside Arita (in the neighboring valley), it was the first place in Japan to produce porcelain after kaolin - the mineral essential to making porcelain - had been found in the area and craftsmen with the necessary skills had been brought from Korea into the country.

The hidden village indeed. A meandering road in a picturesque countryside. The sounds of Imari echo in the cool breeze. Traditional styled homes blend in with hillside. Chimneys outstretched to the heavens. The myriad colorful forms & detailed shapes bear precise testimony to the artisans' creative earthenware. Prices to match. The experience is priceless. A village worthy of it's intricate long name.
