78 Cafe - Nappa Cafe

Lovely Cafe. I find espresso based coffees ( latte, flat white etc) very hit and miss in Japan. So I was especially happy when the latte i ordered tasted delicious.

The drip coffee, as well as the baked curry were also nice. The apple cheesecake was so-so.

New location for the well-loved Nappa Cafe 78. The BEST COFFEE in Nozawa Onsen, and they use actual crockery for their coffees, not disposable cups (which St Anton in the main village uses). Delicious cakes and hearty meals. This cute cafe is owner-operated by a husband and wife team, Jun-San and Naoko-San. So please check their opening hours before coming add they have to care for their elderly parents. The food and service is consistently good whenever I've been here over the last 4 years. Barista coffee, home made delicious meals, personal decor they designed and vintage collections and service with heart. They have a small menu because what they do, they do well. Love this place!

Light but delicious soft onsen egg wjth pickled vegetables and rice, hojicha lattes, orange peel chocolate cake and coconut banana cake. Love the cozy interior and the staff are so nice and welcoming.

There was much to look at in this small cozy cafe. V cute place decorated with old toys of the owner and pictures of Nozawa back in the days - like a mini museum. Drinks options were good with several adult friendly options e.g. hot choc with alcohol).

Absolutely delicious baked Japanese curry! One of the tastiest meals I’ve had in Japan! Thoughtfully decorated and very clean and cosy cafe. Cute inside and outside with lots of detail and thought. Fabulous collection of vintage Japanese toys, books and great old photos of local area. Simple small menu but would recommend coming here for lunch in Nozawa Onsen!

Such a sweet spot! The drinks were amazing and the food tasted yummy! I recommend the hojicha and the rice, egg, and pickled veggies. They had good wifi too

Nice friendly staff. English menu available. Really enjoyed the current here and the atmosphere and decor was a bonus. They also have a selection of in house baked sweets as well. Highly recommended.

This is a lovely place to hang out for delicious cake, coffee and cats (check out all the cat collectibles and a real cat there now). The best caramel latte to sip while thumbing through the cat books or bring your own book to have a quiet read there. Upslope from the Ogama Onsen, this cosy cafe might be a but hard to find but Nozawa Onsen is small so ask around and the locals will direct you.

To all the chai latte lovers Nappa is the cafe for you. In our experience most cafes in Nozawa didn’t have chai lattes on their menu so this became a regular stop for us - always being welcomed back with a happy smile, fast service and quality hot beverages.

This baked curry rice with cheese and onsen egg is worth the visit

Super duper cute place with nice staff and cute collectibles all around the cafe. They also offer magazines to read while you have a yummy drink and eats.

Awesome cafe, great coffee, great atmosphere, great food and great coffee. Baked curry is amazing. Highly recommend.
