Akari House Swiss Bakery

We stayed here for a week and liked our stay a lot. Very friendly team and host. The bakery downstairs has a great selection of breads, pastries and pizzas. We highly recommend the apartments which are a great value for money. The location isn't too central but all amenities are around 10 or 15mins away.

It was an amazing experience. Waiter and cashier tries to speak English even though English is not commonly use in this town. The bread and choux pastry was amazing. (According to my French dessert expert boyfriend)

I think I lived in this bakery when I was snowboarding in Nozawa 😂 such a great place. I’ve had:
- Quiche; to die for. Ask for them to heat it up.
- Tuna and vegetarian pizza; Delish. Def try them.
- Egg croissant; ughhh yummmmm.
- Chocolate fondant; again yuuuummm.
- Carrot cake, lemon cake, coffee, loaf of bread… ok you get the drift it was just alll sooooo good.

Food and coffee were great. Location good.for us too, as we were at far end of the village and so nice little work to bakery. It can get very busy, so get in early.

Nice cafe atmosphere, friendly staff. Cinnamon rolls are GREAT, and the takeaway pizza is very good.

Calzones and quiches were yummy. Coffee (decaf) was delicious too.

Cute little swiss cafe in the middle of town, just a few minutes away from the Main Street. Perfect if you’re looking for a coffee fix

Flat white in Japan!
After 5 days in Japan I finally had a good coffee.
Then I realized they make pizza as well. Had a chat with Nicola, one of the bakers and he himself rated the pizza 8.5/10. 19 being the best pizza in Italy. His reason: the cheese is not the same as in Italy.
We ordered a Margarita, a Prosciutto, and a Salami.
To me it was an 8. The base was perfect, so was the sauce, and I didn’t mind the cheese but it was missing basil on margarita and rocket on Prosciutto.
Overall I was surprisingly impressed.
Definitely a good choice if you want to take a break from the wonderful Japanese cuisine for a dinner. Highly recommend.

Cute bakery with a great selection and good coffee. Not too long of a walk from the centre of Nozawaonsen :)

We rented the 4 bedroom unit for two families (8 people total). It was amazing.
1. Super clean
2. Lots of space
3. Convenient location
4. Incredible shower
5. Comfortable beds.

... but the real bonus was the incredibly friendly staff and the WORLD CLASS bakery downstairs.

Hope to be back sometime and will absolutely stay here again when we return

Yummy food and amazing service. Pizza was served piping fresh and hot. We also bought many pastries for our journey to Tokyo for the next day’s breakfast. Thank you Nicky for the hospitable time and service, we left with smiles on our faces and happiness in our bellies.

Delicious baked goods, real espresso machine, surprisingly good pizza. It’s a cute, warm cafe. Nice set of scones, cookies, cream puffs, and small loaves of bread baked fresh. There’s not a ton of variety but there’s probably something for everyone and the prices are reasonable. The carrot cake was cold and more moist than cakey, which is fine, just something to be aware of. They do the basic set of espresso drinks. I don’t think they did drip coffee, or maybe only in the morning, but they’ll do an Americano. There are several tables and I never saw it so full we couldn’t get one, morning or afternoon.

I just popped in for some takeaway foods but, the pastries were really good. The coffee looked legit also!

It seems like the calzones are pretty special here. I’d like to go back and try them!

Next time I will dine in, the environment feels nice

Stayed at Akari in the 3 bedroom townhouse in Feb 23’ the experience was fantastic all around. The apartment itself was well set out with plenty of space for 7 of us.
The location is only a few minutes walk the the closest lift and most importantly next door the the bakery with great coffee.
Gab and the team couldn’t do enough to answer any questions and help make our stay a very enjoyable one. We will certainly be going back.

So don’t be intimidated by the highly detailed PDF you get when you book! They are very relaxed and helpful. Our room was great, excellent view and had plenty of charging points. Easy walk to the ski lift.

The bakery does decent food. Good pizza and calzone.

Loved the pastries and the atmosphere. We unfortunately could not stay to eat in, but could buy the yummy things to go. Pretzel with cheese was as it should be, I can recommend the apple tart as well. The eat-in part had a Swiss/European mountain chalet vibe, next time we will definitely stay for a coffee!

This place is a real gift! Amazing coffee, delicious bakery treats and pizzas plus we were lucky enough to enjoy melted raclette over potatoes and pickled cabbage on the weekend outside the bakery, paired with a delicious wine. The staff are beautiful and very helpful. Make sure you drop in when in Nozawa

We came here every morning before hitting the slopes- lovely vibes, great coffee, DELICIOUS food. Every pastry/pretzel/pizza we tried was so fresh and so tasty. The staff were also super friendly & helpful.

The best European style bread you can find in Nozawa. Friendly owners and great customer service. Must try: the pretzel/zopf sandwiches. So good!!
