Would have given 6 stars if I could. This meal was the highlight of my Japan trip - we truly loved every dish, especially with the sake pairing. Still dreaming about that risotto..!

5 star ⭐ Experience at Hotel Haus St Anton was truly fantastic!
Highly recommend it as a must-stay hotel in Nozawa Onsen.
The service was excellent, and the meals were delicious.

Communication with St Anton via email was smooth as their English proficiency was good. Through email correspondence, we could feel the warmth and courtesy of the staff, which made us decide to stay at St Anton.
After booking, the hotel provided us with plenty of information about accommodations, restaurant recommendations, ski equipment rentals, etc., which made us feel very reassured before our departure!

We stayed at Hotel Haus St Anton for three nights in total.

🍳Breakfast:
Breakfast was included, and it was our favorite time of the day. There was a slight variation in breakfast options over the three days. It included yogurt, four types of jams sold in St Anton, freshly squeezed juice, soup, bread, salad, and egg dishes.
What amazed us the most was that there was a toaster at each table. If you chose toast, you could toast it right at your table, which showed their thoughtfulness!
We get to try all types of jams that's sold at the shop and they were all delicious!

🍽 Dinner:
St Anton offered Western set meals that could be ordered separately. We invited our friends to join us for dinner as well and we all enjoyed it. There was a discount for guests staying at St Anton.

The hotel provided a printed menu with the date (we kept it as a souvenir). In addition to the original menu, you could also pay extra for upgrades like wagyu beef and risotto. Every dish reflected the chef's dedication. They introduced each dish when serving, all made with local ingredients and all delicious. It was a pleasant experience, and if you stay longer in Nozawa, it's worth trying.
P.S.: We did see one of the chef cooking vegetables next to the onsen for one of the vegetable dishes which was cool.

On the other two days, we dined outside, and the hotel kindly made reservations for us by phone.

🎿 Rental Shop:
St Anton has its rental shop right next to the slope, which is very convenient as you don't need to carry equipment down. They also offered reasonably priced hot wax services and a 30% discount on rentals for hotel guests.

♨Onsen/Hot Spring:
Nozawa is famous for its many free hot springs, but staying at St Anton, you have your own hot spring. You just need to make an appointment with the hotel in advance, and the entire time slot is for you. You also don't need to go outside in the cold winter for an onsen, which is a plus.

I would definitely want to stay at St Anton again in the future. Thank you!

Haus St Anton is a very special place. It is family run and the love of skiing, food, friends, pours out from everyone.

The hotel is owned by the Katagiri family, cultural icons at Nozawa Onsen. They were ski racers, ski coaches, and now hospitable hoteliers. They will treat you like family and care about every detail. They care about you and your experience.

The hotel was chosen as the headquarters for the German ski team during the 98’ Nagano Olympics. The food fuses elements of European ( with a decidedly Italian flair) and Japanese. The ambiance is wonderful; you will leave with fond memories and a plan to come back.

A small hotel named for an Austrian village. It is a family-run hotel started by one of the pioneer of Japanese alpine skiing. The rooms are clean and just the right size. Dinner is a creative fusion of Japanese and Western cuisine, using food from Nagano Prefecture, and very tasty. There is also a Cafe, so you will never be short of food. The gondola is about a 10-minute walk away. And the famous public hot spring is also only a two-minute walk away. The customer service is excellent and I would like to go back to this hotel.

This is probably one of the best hotels I have stayed in Nozawa Onsen. Their foods are amazing. For breakfast they serve their own homemade jams and for dinner they have a full course menu all set up. Overall, the meals are great.
The rooms are very clean and cozy. They also have a common room with a large TV and a fire place. The whole hotel just serves a cottage core aesthetic which is not only amazing to stay in but also for social media.
The hotels location is also very convenient since it’s right in the middle of the village where you can get to very nice stores and restaurants not even by a 10 min walk.
This place is the best!!!

Friendly cafe with good coffee, small selection of sandwiches and soups. Lots of jams made with locally sourced ingredients. Gelato, as well. It's clear that care and attention goes into this place, making it a good post ski spot to grab a bite. We had a tasting menu for dinner in the restaurant one evening, which was also very good. Small portions. But strong flavors. Far as I can tell using plenty of local ingredients. There is a hotel which we did not stay at. They have a cafe / ski rental concession at base lodge, as well. If you stay at the hotel in town you can store your ski gear slope side. Very convenient to not have to lug your stuff up and down every day.

Ski Enthusiasts Dream
This charming hotel and restaurant has a warm atmosphere with exceptional service and attention to details. Just a short walk to Yu-Road (moving walk). The rooms are spacious for fitting luggage and ski gear (rental equipment is available). We also saved time by purchasing lift tickets at hotel.
The bedding is cozy and beds are firm. Bathrooms are spacious clean. Unfortunately, dinner was fully booked but they offered different options and had plenty of recommendations. We tried the cafe and that was delectable. Prices are reasonable and family friendly. Definitely would stay again!

Extremely friendly staff, excellent food. The croque monsieur was perfect. The accommodation is quite good and Austrian style. They produce lovely jams and serve great coffee. Not cheap, but well recommended. Thank you for a lovely stay.

A wonderful hotel to stay when visiting Nazawa Onsen, with great food and a friendly helpful staff. They also helped ahead of time with our ski rental and lift passes, which saved us time once we got there. We enjoyed the Gelato and the steamed dumplings at their coffee shop which is attached to the hotel.

Most delightful holiday stay! Friendly staff and a touch of the Tyrol in Japan. The Japanese chef is five star, having trained in France, and worked in Switzerland and Austria. Top class menu! Comfortable rooms, and centrally located. They also have a cafe and jam shop below, and one of the town's famous hot spring onsen.

Our family will be back!
