建築作品としての感想です。設計はsalhausさん、構造設計は佐藤淳さん。

住田町産のスギを利用した建物は、木材特有の優しさや親しみ易さに溢れています。地域の安全安心を守る施設へ、地域の素材を用いるというコンセプトにも共感を覚えました。

内部には壁などを設けずに、古来の伝統構造形式である貫を用いたラーメン構造が採用され、自由なレイアウトが実現しているそうです。同様の貫構造としては、清水寺の舞台、2025年の万博リングが挙げられます。

消防車を格納する約14mの大スパン部は、比較的小さなサイズの部材を組合わせる工夫（フィーレンデイールトラス）が用いられていました。

地域に根ざした地域のための施設という想い、伝統的な貫形式と近代のトラス形式とが組み合わさった構造など、素敵な作品でした。
