茨城県最初の法華(日蓮宗)道場。文永２年(1265)水原に開創。(1261)の説あり。その後正応２年(1289)に当地移転。境内に600年近いカヤノキと水戸光圀公建立の祖師堂あり。

知人の供養で墓参に伺ってます。
少しづつですが、水道が増えたり、掃除のバケツ・柄杓があったり、で助かっており、ちょくちょく清掃されている印象ありのお寺です。
