Izumi Crane Observation Centre

Was here on 21 Feb 24 before sunrise to see the cranes. You can park your car close to the observation centre. Entrance fee is 1,000 yen per vehicle. Was able to see the cranes from the roof top of the centre. Amazing views and can see cranes flying above you and in front of you. Nice place to visit during the crane migration period

I have never seen such a large scale natural preservation which I think is only comparable with some place in England. Really amazing to see an uncountable number of cranes.

Best place to see the cranes in winter. Nice people and location. It's not possible to get as close as previously due to bird flu but still a great location and worth the charge to go on the roof. If you can, visit at 7am when they feed the cranes for the most crane action you will ever see!

What a fantastic place. So many different cranes along with an array of smaller birds. Brilliant.The Crane resident guide was extremely helpful. If you are visiting Izumi this is a must.

The guide there was nice to explain to us in English in detail. It is so amusing can drive our own car and stopped in the field to watch cranes.

鶴の季節ギリギリでしたが見れました～
センターの3階に外の展望台への出口があります
鶴をよく見るにはオペラグラス借りたほうがよいです間近に見えます
センターの方達とても親切です。ボランティアガイドさんがいてお願いすると色々案内してくれます
センター入口に現在の鶴の状況が出水中学校の協力で掲示されていました

朝7時5分からの給餌時の一斉飛び立ち（餌やりのトラックターに驚いてねぐらから先ずは飛び立ちますが、その後にゆっくりと餌を食べに帰ってきます、その間にカラスが上前をはねます）と夕方の帰巣時の編隊飛行を2日かけて見に行きました（夕暮れのシルエットが粋、逆光になります）。1.2万羽の鶴が今週確認されいましたので参りましたが想像以上に感動しました。✳ねぐらは畑の中に作られた水田です。かなりの数のツルが密集します
特に身近な鳴き声の大合唱は目からの情報以上に感動するものです。
駐車場で1000円の入域料金を払うと施設利用のほか望遠1眼レフカメラや双眼鏡、電気自動車（東干拓観察ハイドまでの足）も無料で借りられます。ただし車は2台だけですので貸出中はマイカーで東干拓までとなります。東干拓には10台以上の駐車スペースが有りますが観察トレーラ（ハイド）みたいな施設には2人掛けのシートが2つだけ、後は外から対岸を観察する。かなり距離がありオススメしません。ツルの居場所は毎日変わりますので係員の方から情報を集めるのがベストです。
1万羽の中に１羽しか確認されていないソデグロヅルを見られて感動しました。走行中にツルを見かけて道路駐車で観察する際は車外へ出てはいけないローカルルールがあります。車内からの観察、撮影をすること、ご注意ください。車のタイヤ消毒はいたるところで何度もされます。靴裏も同様に消毒液や粉を踏んで出入りします。
被写体としてのツルを撮影するなら三脚と望遠レンズ400m以上、出来れば800m以上があると便利です。
ライブカメラが公式サイト上にありますので見にくいですが参考になります。撮影ポイントは観察センター前の道路上（車両通行無し）とセンター3階の屋上が良いと思います。朝は特に寒いので完全防寒対策が必要。
