Seems that hasedera is popular among locals since we didnt see many foreigners during our visit. It was located in nara and approx 1-2 hours from Kyoto. So, it can be alternative to escape the crowded kyoto. View is majestic but too bad we arrived during the tail end of sakura season. It must be beautiful during the peak of sakura and also imagine the view during autumn~~

Such a beautiful temple to visit in Nara. A classic beauty! Hasedera has a very peaceful atmosphere, and surprisingly not crazily crowded with people, even during the peak sakura blossom.

Although it is a bit far from Nara park, the main attraction of Nara, you won't be disappointed if you take the time and effort to visit Hasedera. Super beautiful.

Definitely a strong recommendation for a visit

Such a calming and relaxing experience! Hardly any tourists made the place feel like we had the whole place to yourself. Stunning view of the town.

Another stunning temple a short drive from Nara. Famous for its covered walkways and 9m statue of Kannon

Less crowded temple with magnificent architecture. Really worth seeing. If you are coming from mie matsusaka as I did, take osaka uehonmachi express train and get off at hasedera station. It’s about 10~15 min walk from the station. You can even get a taxi at the station. Don’t forget to walk around the site not just the main temple.

Very large temple complex out of the beaten path. I think the unique feature is the covered entrance pathway. Lovely

Great place to visit. The way there is long but you get to experience a magic place with not a lot of tourists. The great buddha is worth the distance and effort to got there.

Astonishing scenes over the four seasons. Few staircases going up the main temple. Enjoyable experience even for non-Buddhism tourists.

Came to see ajisai but was mesmerized by the majestic temple architecture. There are also many places to have a short rest after the walk. Coming on weekend might be a bit crowded but it is worth it :)

Extremely beautiful I say it's must see. A lot of beautiful temples and cultural things here. There is a 10meter buddha that is amazing, almost of God's to wish goodluck for if your into that. I prayed for my teeth, legs, eyes, good fortune with money and girls. I saw few souvenirs. There is one of those traditional hand baths, I'm sorry I do not the name, here you should not drink from them. It is a little high being a water bottle or two unless you want to get something from the many vending machines. There are many shines and high views so it is a perfect excuse to take a picture with someone, "oh look at this view! Let's take a picture!" But probably in Japanese because if you are two Americans you probably already know each other, because we are in Japan. Please don't take pictures of the Buddhas it is very bad and disrespectful. I hear during the seasons there are many beautiful flowers. At night the lanterns light up and it is also very beautiful. Goodluck and remember it!

Brilliant large buddhist temple in a great location. Amazing autumn colours across this whole valley. The temple itself is a fantastic timber architecture with a large deck overlooking the valley and town below.

This is a large complex to explore and photograph and absolutely beautiful during Sakura season. As you approach the main gate to Hasedera Temple, you will see signs with QR codes to access information in different languages. The whole complex also has free Wi-Fi. The grand, covered stairway lined with stone lanterns and flowers is an attraction in itself.

Calm and peaceful place for Buddhism pilgrimage. Spectacular statue of Avalokiteshvara Boddhisatva. Nice place for Sakura viewing, need intensive energy to climb the staircases.

It's a beautiful temple with beautiful gardens. Sakura, peony, hydrangea, maple......all planted along the elevation which gives a tremendous view from the temple premises.

A photographic enthusiast can spend minimum 2 hrs here. There's everything of interest , pagoda, temple, lanterns , statues , foliage. Any click is a beautiful frame. .
