Wajima Morning Market

Stopping by the Wajima Morning Market was a great decision during our Noto trip. The vendors were all very nice and we found a lot of interesting and delicious items sold at the market.

My family and I joined the Wajima Go day trip through Hokutetsu. Wajima Morning Market is our first stop. It is very unique and interesting. Most of the vendors sell processed seafood and products rather than fresh food. You will notice there’s a lot of females running the business. The tour guide told us you don’t usually get to negotiate with the price, but it’s better (or okay) to ask for “extras.” For example, you pay ¥1000 for seaweed. You can ask “can I also have X for free”? Hope you get good deals here 😀

A small shopping street full of traditional Japanese eateries and fish flakes. Most of the local produce are sold here. People were very friendly and greeted me with smile

Great spot to buy fresh fishies, local produce & lacquerware! Also sauces, ginkgo nuts etc (or whatever is seasonal).

Wajima is nice place. Out of way, more quiet. Not a big tourist attraction, and city has been shrinking over years. Morning Market has charm of long-running culture. Street of goods, seafood and eateries. Open air. Good places to enter and sit. Plentiful chopsticks to buy. Weather of area is not best. Worth picking good time of year to enjoy.

Close at 12:00 but the shop keepers will start to pack up at 11:30
A lot of dry & wet seafood to buy
There is only one sushi shop open in the morning
Also a lot of handicrafts such as chop sticks & rice bowls

Great local market, open only until noon. Lots of local traditional food to buy, fresh, fermented or dry; and a bit of street food to fill your stomach.

It's very interesting, even if you don't buy anything

Small market but with the most friendly persons and sellers ever !

We didnt see it actually since it's too late but it should be a nice place to spend the morning.

室町時代には4と9の付く日に開催されていたそうです。
明治時代から毎日開催されるようになったそうです。

輪島の伝統工芸品や自然豊かな中で育てた食材等の販売がされている場所でした（当日はお天気が悪く出展する店舗は少なくちょっと寂しい感じでした）

「朝市通り」と呼ばれる商店街約360mに200以上の露店が並ぶそうです。（第二水曜日と第四水曜日は休み）

露店の出店が少なくちょっと寂く思いましたが、通りには歴史が偲ばれる家屋が多く有りました。
時代を感じながら散策させていただきました。

輪島の朝市は今回初めて訪問しました。朝市の近くに駐車場やトイレもあってゆっくりと見て回れました。日本三大朝市と呼ばれるだけあって活気があり、海産物等が売られてる店先や路地裏を見ながら歩くのが楽しかったです。
