Koyasan Reihokan Museum

Many of the treasures of the Koyasan temple complexes are housed here, also to protect them from fires.

Beautiful museum in a beautiful building. Their collection of wooden figures, scrolls, and works is impressive, dating back to the 8th century.

Absolutely smashing statue of Saint Kobo Daishi, precious Mandalas, impressive collection and building not to be missed!

A lot of national treasure from different area of Japan 🇯🇵 I recommend you to visit this wonderful museum.

The museum is small but SO WORTH IT!! ¥600 to get in, shoes off, slippers on, it was great. I'm kind of a history fanatic so for me it was awesome. Mostly pieces pertaining to Buddhism, but they are amazing. Such sacred art right before your very eyes. CHECK IT OUT.

A two room museum featuring many huge beautiful Buddha statues and other religious figures. Nothing is in English, so there won't be much to take away. Just seeing the sculptures were enough for the 400 yen admission fee.

Small entrance fee. Part of combo ticket. Several wings of artifacts, statues, scrolls and paintings and cloths. Few swords. Bathrooms available. No pictures. Can be done pretty quick. Very limited English signage.

A great museum with some absolutely stunning statues, artworks and artifacts going back to the very beginnings of Koyasan. A short walk from the Dai Garan and Kongobu-ji and only 600 yen to enter, I can highly recommend it. English information pamphlets are available and the names of the exhibited items are in English and Japanese but the bulk of the information is in Japanese

An amazing museum with artifact up to a thousand years old. Quite a few items were from the 13-hundreds. Lots of scrolls and statues. Very impressive.

The greatest collections. it’s worth to pay cost of 600 jpy. Before going there , you get a PDF brochure at their download site.

Good even if you can't read Japanese because there was English descriptions for most of the exhibitions!

ここはすごいです。
個人的には、奥の院、壇上伽藍、金剛峯寺とここのどれか一つしか行けないとなったら迷わずここを選びます。

高野山に残る仏像や絵画を一堂に集め、時折展示品を変えながら展示しています。初めから終わりまで重要文化財だらけ。博物館内は撮影不可です。

ミュージアムショップのみ入館料なしで入ることが出来ます。入館料1300円は少々高いのですが、これ以上の価値があります。駐車場30台無料です。

年に数回展示品を替えて特別展示があります。
毎回楽しみにしています。

国宝＆重要文化財が間近で見れるのはとてもいい経験です。

霊宝館は有料です。仏画、仏像、書いろいろあり、見る価値アリです。
是非、見学して下さい。もう遅いですが、まわりは紅葉も綺麗です。
国宝もあるのですが、私が好きなのは重要文化財の孔雀明王像（快慶作、金剛峯寺　鎌倉時代)、とても美しい仏像です。
伽藍孔雀堂の元本尊で、後鳥羽法皇の御願により仏 師快慶が正治二年（1200年）に造立したもので、孔雀の背に乗るという絵画的な姿を、仏像彫刻として見事に完成させています。

高野山は弘法大師の開創以来、12世紀にわたる長い歴史の中で栄枯盛衰を繰り返し、今なお法燈を守り続ける真言密教の一大道場です。
開創以来、幾たびかの自然災害や明治初期の廃仏毀釈などで、山上の優れた文化遺産を焼失、散逸させてしまいました。現在なお117ヶ寺に有する文化財は膨大な量を誇り、まさしく文化財の宝庫です。さらに、平成16年（2004年）にはユネスコ世界文化遺産に登録され、国境を越えた世界共通の宝物として注目を集めています。

高野山霊宝館は、こうした高野山内の貴重な文化遺産を保存展観する施設として大正10年（1921年）に有志者の寄付と金剛峯寺によって開設されました。この時に建てられた本館は、平成10年（1998年）に登録有形文化財として指定されています
現在では国宝21件、重要文化財148件、和歌山県指定文化財17件、重要美術品2件、合計182件、約2万8千点弱を収蔵するほか、未指定品になりますと5万点以上を数える収蔵量を誇っています。
これらの膨大な資料を収集・保管する当館は、夏期特別展のほか、年間を通じて企画展や特別陳列、常設展示を企画し、展示公開にあたっているそうです。是非、霊宝館も見学して下さい。
