Djinn Blocks

Nabatean tombs, carved in 1st century AD.

There are many caves and Houses in Mountain. It is 10mins walk from the Main Gate.

Huge holes (room) carved inside stone mountains, keep wondering how they would have done this? :D

Djinn blocks are funereal structures in Petra consisting of carved sandstone blocks with holes in them for burial. These make whistling/howling sounds when the winds blow through them. They are mostly located towards the early part of the walk into the valley. Can be accessed by foot or by local transportation available at the gate.

bei den Djinn Blocks handelt es sich um kleinere Tempel bzw. Gebäude die als Grabmale dienten die sich gleich am Anfang, noch vor dem Eingang in den Siq Canyon, befinden. Sie geben schon einen kleinen Vorgeschmack darauf was einen noch so alles an diesem Tage erwartet. Schön anzusehen, aber sie werden an diesem Tag wahrscheinlich nicht als das große Highlight in Erinnerung bleiben.

Primeros monumentos de Petra. Son tumbas de gente que se portó bien en vida, situadas ahí para proteger la ciudad. Más tarde, ya vacías, como el viento resonaba en ellas, algunos dijeron que estaban habitadas por espíritus. De ahí el nombre que tienen ahora.

Блоки джиннов - это массивные каменные блоки, вырезанные из цельного песчаника. Они имеют квадратную форму, а их стены покрыты замысловатой резьбой. Неизвестно, с какой целью или в какой период времени они были сделаны. Вполне вероятно, что они предназначались как усыпальницы для богатых и влиятельных граждан Петры. Однако работа была прервана, и проект был просто заброшен.

O experiență extraordinară! Traseul ales a fost cel scurt, de la centrul turistic și până la amfiteatru. Deși luna ianuarie este ocolita de turiști, există avantajul ca locul să fie mai puțin aglomerat, să te bucuri in voie de tot ceea ce te înconjoară!

Интересный памятник, да собственно говоря тут всё интересное! Идёшь открыв рот! Слушаешь неторопливый рассказ гида, восхищаешься древними мастерами!

Wer die lange Reise bis her schaft, der sollte unbedingt zu Fuß gehen um alles genießen zu können. Man wird schon am Anfang des Fuß Marsches, von vielen Gebäuden und Blocks überwältigt. So viele Foto-motive bekommt man selten vor die Linse. Ein echt sehenswertes Weltwunder hier in Petra in Jordanien.
