There are not enough words to describe Petra.

The scenery makes you feel as if it was 2000 years ago.

The route to the monestry is doable, but steep. It takes about 2.5-3 hours to reach the top.

One of the best place in Earth. Full of ancient human heritage. Needs a whole day to explore properly, The Jordon pass has a option for 2 days entry also.
Very hot and humid, So take ample water and food

A historic place to visit! lots of emotions and it takes more than a day to see everything. You have to plan to spend the night there and that's what we did.

One of the best historical places you will visit, we went through all the places inside.
I would recommend to bring light snacks with you and alot of water as there will be a long distance to walk specially if you are planning to visit the monastery, we walked for about 17 km that day

What an amazing experience to visit the Petra historic site. It is recommended to visit for two days, so there is enough time to visit not only the Treasury, but also the Monastery, and to hike around (there are a few hiking trails, one of them gives a view in the Treasury from above).

What an amazing sight to see. We went early and start at 7 am, this was nice because a lot of the crowds were not there at the time so it was quick to get a ticket and most attractions did not have too many tourists around them. We saw almost everything and even did a long hike to see the top of the Treasury. It took us around 7 hours. We also came here in August, I would not recommend due to the heat. My favorites were Al Siq, the Treasury and the Monastery. Glad to be able to see Petra and cross off something else from my bucket list.

My unforgettable journey to Petra began with a scenic JETT bus ride from Aqaba, a convenient and affordable option at 15 JOD. For those without the Jordan Pass, the entrance ticket stands at 50 JOD, a price worth paying for the awe-inspiring wonders within. Despite warnings of scams, the locals are not pushy, allowing for lighthearted interactions and even jokes.

A single day in Petra is insufficient to explore every nook and cranny, but it was an extraordinary experience nonetheless. The rose-red city, with its intricate rock-cut architecture and majestic landscapes, left an indelible mark. The iconic Treasury, Monastery, and the Siq's dramatic passage were awe-inspiring, transporting us to a bygone era. The blend of history, culture, and nature creates an atmosphere that resonates with the echoes of ancient civilizations.

The locals, despite their potential for scams, also contribute to the unique charm of Petra. Their hospitality, when genuine, adds a layer of warmth to the overall experience. The day was a tapestry of vibrant colors, rich history, and the tangible sense of standing on hallowed ground.

In essence, even with just a day, Petra's mystique and grandeur are bound to captivate your senses.

Magic place. Petra is one of the most wonderful places I have ever been to. Everyone who has a chance to visit, I highly recommend it. You need a full day for visiting this place.

Grateful to see this wonder! Could have used the donkey ride to The Monastery 😅

Visiting the historical city of Petra was nothing short of a mesmerizing adventure. As I passed through the narrow Siq, the anticipation built, and suddenly, the iconic Al-Khazneh emerged from the rock formations. The sheer grandeur of this ancient marvel, intricately carved into vibrant pink sandstone, left me in awe.

Wandering further, the archaeological wonders unfolded – from the imposing Monastery to the Royal Tombs, each structure bore witness to the skilled craftsmanship of the Nabateans. The city's rich history seemed to echo in every rock-cut facade, and the blend of natural beauty with architectural brilliance created an atmosphere that transcended time.

Exploring the city's hidden corners, I marveled at the delicate balance between nature and human ingenuity. The rose-red hues of the rock formations, particularly during sunset, added a magical touch to the already enchanting landscape. The play of light and shadow on the ancient structures evoked a sense of mystery, making Petra an unforgettable and almost surreal experience.

What made the visit truly special was not just the remarkable architecture but also the palpable sense of history that envelops the entire site. Standing in the midst of Petra felt like stepping into a living museum, where every carving, every step, carried whispers of the past. It's a place where the beauty of nature and the brilliance of human craftsmanship converge, creating a truly amazing and timeless spectacle.

One of the most beautiful places on the planet. It's truly one of the seven wonders of the world. Majestic and magnificent.
You need at least a day to see the highlights

We did Petra by night. Very good but yet expensive. During the day is also good but around Petra you're contacted a lot for taxis while there's a free shuttle to little Petra.

Petra world wonder site is just Mesmerizing!!! It has two sites - Treasury (the photos we see the most) and Monastery (further up but worth the walk of ~300 steps). Was surprised to see that majority just do the Treasury. Be informed that you can either walk (4-7hrs), use battery buggy (JOD 25 for two way till Treasury), or horse/donkey rides (JOD 05 till Monastery).

You need to set aside a full day when visiting the Siq, Treasury and the Monastery.
A must do before departing this existence.

What a stunning place. If you can stay at the Movenpick, do so! It’s right across the visitor centre. Make sure you go early in the morning and you’ll be able to have the place to yourself! There were only 6 of us at the Treasury one morning…

Don’t trust the people who offer you horse rides that are “included in your ticket”…. Also I wouldn’t do a donkey ride, just walk seriously.

About Petra
Historical place in Jordan

Petra, originally known to its inhabitants as Raqmu or Raqēmō, is a historic and archaeological city in southern Jordan. Famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system, Petra is also called the "Rose City" because of the colour of the sandstone from which it is carved; it was famously called "a rose-red city half as old as time" in a poem of 1845 by John Burgon. source
