A little heaven in Madaba. Awesome stuff, very kindly. Stunning vegan food, with huge portions. Absolutely recommended!

I lovedddd the vibe. I went there with my friends to study for our physics mid exam lol, so I didn’t get to focus on the books there😞

Love this place! Super chill and quit!
Would just go there and read my book! A bit far for someone who lives in amman but would definitely keep going there! Worth it

The definition of a hidden gem. I can’t rate this place highly enough. Stunning interiors, spirited and personable staff, tasty drinks, and delicious food. The bookstore and cafe are founded upon community and charity, and we all felt compelled to contribute to the causes and people they are supporting. The kittens are also super cute too.

10/10

Honestly, it's such a chill place. It's got a bohemian vibe. The staff is very very very friendly and there iced coffee it shocked me to how good it was like its a nice place old school vibes and if you are a cat person you'll love it lots of cute cats that chill there. I also tried their chocolate cake. I highly recommend it. Definitely good vibes and great atmosphere

If you want to take a break from Amman and have a nice cup of coffee or tea in a simple and rustic garden, then Kawon is the place. Lovely atmosphere and has an amazing library. Kawon also has an amazing vegan menu with fresh and local ingredients. What more could you ask for.

Wow! What a beautiful place! I must start by saying that Louai offered exceptional, over the top service. He was very knowledgeable, accommodating, kind and very informative on all things Madaba and the bookstore. His hospitality was extraordinary. We enjoyed some fine pastries and fresh juices that were absolutely delicious. We came twice to this place and each time Louai was there to greet us and answer any questions we had. Also, the sitting area and cafe were really nice. The cats that live there are just the cutest also. Definitely recommend this place and can’t wait to visit again when I return to Jordan!

I love this place. Hidden gems are hard to come by these days but if your find your self with some time to relax with a book and good cup of coffee go to Madaba and visit Kawon bookshop. This converted home is exquisitely designed and you can see the care and passion the owners/staff put into it. Have a light and delicious vegetarian snack at the window outside the main entrance or head downstairs to the garden and have some coffee or tea. And enjoy your snack from the kitchen upstairs. Nice selection of contemporary Books , some mid- century copies form some private libraries and a room of antique and rare books . And a bunch of children’s books .. There are some surprising finds in there. Be mindful of the signs requesting “no photos” - ( forgive me though , Kawon.. I had to share the treasure of a location with others )....
If you get a chance ask the guy making your food to tell you the story about the store and what it gives back to the community and it’s vision.

The VEGAN kitchen was Fantastic!!!
They need to add it's existence more definitely to the maps listing.
The Book store- Is really excellent for All sorts of books.! Lovely Arabic/ English children's books and Art books and also books and rare books and magazines. In addition to lots of English & Arabic books, there are also German and French books. All housed in creative wooden sculptural shelves with steps and more..meanwhile downstairs... Coffee shop = Incredibly Lovely garden - a veritable oasis in the sad plethora of modern plastic fast food & ubiquitous garbage of the middle east.

The girls in the main floor VEGAN kitchen were super sweet, friendly, and serve excellent, well priced food ( Rocca salad & cold Lentil Kibbe pictured). The girl even carried my food with me down to the Garden - she must've intuitively sensed my earlier disappointment with the fellow downstairs.(below) They deserve 5 stars.

However, the man in the drinks kitchen downstairs in the Garden, had been a bit disappointing. He walked all the way out to where i was seated to brusquely tell me to go get my own tray of drinks, that he so easily could've brought to me with the effort he'd used to walk & tell me it was ready. ( I had already tipped his tip jar) ( in hindsight, when I was down, there later, eating, I heard him vigorously ringing a bell to summon other coffee customers- but he had neglected to mention this approach to me despite the fact I had been in there first asking him questions about the procedure .)

Additionally, the Turkish coffee was disappointing, not smooth, being a bit acrid,( overcooked?)
The tea was just floating in the pot so within a few minutes it was bitterly oversteeped. Not to mention ( although I am😉 ) it was a perplexing mix of tea varieties too that wasn't quite a smooth Assam, nor a smoky oolong, and a smattering of green that totally curdled the British milk taste I was trying to arrive at with my additional purchase of a creamer of milk. All drink portions- small even considering that Turkish coffee usually has its own tiny sort of cups, and a glass of water. Maybe he was having an "off day". All in All a wonderful place.

We stumbled to this place today whilst touring the city. This place is a high ended Europeean coffee shop with a book shop on the top floor and offers a chilled environment in the middle of a bustling city. The stuff are a super friendly .
I advise that you visit this place and you won't be disappointed.

A litle oasis in the middle of Madaba's turmoil. Very pleasant atmosphere, great bookshop and a small food menu, very tasty, vegetarian at reasonable price. A perfect alternative to look alike touristics options. And both the cook and the bookseller were awesomely nice
