Really nice tour. Theatre is in really good shape and used for shows today. A lot of history. I enjoyed coming here

Just around from the Oval Plaza, so not very far from the visitor’s center, we discovered the South Theater.

Of the three ancient theaters in ancient Jerash, this one was the most magnificent in our eyes because it’s the oldest and largest of the three. The theater's towering limestone walls encircle a vast seating area.

We also were impressed by the precisely engineered acoustics so that onstage performances can be heard clearly throughout the auditorium.

The remarkable preservation of the semicircular seating rows and broad stage allows modern visitors to envision how grand a visit to the theater must have been in years past.

The Southern Theatre offers a unique and enjoyable experience that goes beyond the expected historical tour. The highlight of my visit was the local performances held within the theatre - a delightful surprise! Sitting high up in the theatre while enjoying the music, you get a breathtaking view of the entire archaeological site. It was a truly immersive way to appreciate the history and culture of Jerash. I highly recommend taking the time to experience a performance if your visit coincides with one. It adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the already impressive ancient theatre.

One of the iconic historical places in Jerash and a must see when visiting the city.
Just make sure you wear a comfortable pair of shoes cause you are going to walk on sand, gravel and rocky pathways along the way.
You can buy your ticket right on the exit of the souvenirs market after the car parking, or right on the main entrance of the historical city.
There are many other places to see during the visit such as the main square, columns street, northern theater and many others.

Totally amazing place. I visited during winter. So the entire theatre was empty. The view from top is marvellous. It gives you goosebumps to think about the history of the place.

It was wonderful to be able to see and stand in this ancient Roman city and listen to the Jordan military representatives play music in the theatre.

Another fantastic attraction within the Greco-Roman city of Gerasa. An amphitheatre in excellent restored condition with occasional local performances.

I love all those theatres I have visited during my trip in Jordan. There were some musician playing at bagpipes.

This is a very well-restored Roman amphitheatre. It's beautiful and spectacular. The views from the top are also amazing. When we were there, there was a Jordanian brass band playing classical tunes and the acoustics were very good.

You should go there to enjoy the place. You have to drink a lot of water, there is no shadow
