Bar Santa Chiara - pizzeria - ristorante

It is located in front of the Basilica di Santa Chiara in Assisi, Italy. we ordered coffee and the taste was good. È delizioso! It is not spacious but the atmosphere was nice. Most of all, all the staff there were very cheerful and friendly. we took pictures together. Grazie!

We enjoyed a delightful and delicious Christmas Dinner from the normal menu at Bar Santa Chiara and were exceptionally pleased with the food and service. Although the place was extremely busy, Andrea and his team went all out to ensure that we were pleased. We started our dinner with fried stuffed olives and fried zucchini flowers, both of which were excellent. Our mains were the very tasty Fusilli with Pesto Sauce and the nicely spicy Penne with Arrabbiata Sauce. A half liter of the House Sangiovese wine and a liter of sparkling water rounded out this most enjoyable meal. We note with satisfaction their use of good quality wine glasses that are appropriate for red wine. Saw that they do the same for white wines as well.
This charming cafe also offers an opportunity to eat with the local people who are friendly and welcoming. We continue to be impressed with the quality of food and service at Bar Santa Chiara will enjoy their food and wine service several more times during our stay in Assisi

I have a lot of dietary restrictions that make me not an ideal restaurant customer. The staff was extremely accommodating and patient, and helped me find something on the menu I could eat. He even offered to make something special for me if I couldn’t find anything on the menu. I ordered pasta and my mother got pizza, and we both agreed those dishes were the best we’ve had in Italy so far. Super friendly staff and top tier food. They also have great espresso and free WiFi!

Our last morning I ordered a Cioccolato Caldo. It was awesome! The Best Hot Chocolate I have ever tasted!!!! Will try to post the photo I took. Andrea and his team are the best!

The Mixed bruschetta was excellent: Porcini was full flavored; the Veggie had a nice spiciness; and the truffle was delicious, like an olive tapenade. I ordered the Fusilli con pesto which was excellent. Could taste the Parmesan cheese in the sauce. Very tasty. My husband enjoyed the
Penne con arrabbiata - nicely spicy.
The house wine was a smooth San Giovese locally made at a vineyard about 25 kilometers from Assisi.
The service was excellent. We've also been there for Breakfast. Service is always quick but we never feel rushed.
Andrea is friendly and helpful and knows our breakfast preferences.
Highly recommend Bar Santa Chiara. We will go there again soon. Failed to take photos because we were more focused on enjoying the food.

We stumbled in here right by Santa Chiara and I got the la Rosa di Assisi pizza and it was excellent. Our waiter was so kind and patient. Great place!! Highly recommend.

Beautiful setting with excellent food and superb hospitality! The owner kept the kitchen open for us so we could eat as we arrived just as the kitchen was closing, and we’re we happy he did as we had two hamburger wraps, and the hamburger was phenomenal. Best meat I’ve had in Italy. Definitely stop here and eat—SO worth it!

I am in Assisi for the whole month and we stumbled upon this place my first night here. The owner, Andrea couldn’t be any nicer! Been back every day so far- food, service and conversation is superb!

I ordered the 'Gnorante. The pizza was extremely good.

My server, his name is Andrew (in English), was extremely nice. One of my friends ordered one of the pastas, but unfortunately they didn't have the specific meat for that pasta. The server came back, told my friend, and suggested another pasta that was very similar. When my friends food came out, the server gave my friend double the sauce and double the cheese.

It took a while to get my pizza to me, but when I got it, Andrew felt like he should give me a free Brucott.

Even though they had only one of their pizza ovens working, they knew what they were doing. I really enjoyed the feel of the entire restaurant.

If you're looking for a good place to eat pizza, pasta, and/or some sort of desert, this is the place for you.

I’m from the US and this was my second time in Assisi. I walked past many restaurants everyday to return to Andrea’s, cozy, clean, and very welcoming family establishment. On one of the final days we were even given some of the hot chocolate off the spoon!! I highly recommend it!

I am so grateful to Bar Santa Chiara because they treated me like family. I came in to find a place to change my 4 month old diaper. It is January 2024 so it's really cold at this time. They helped me feel welcomed. I didn't even stay to eat but I was so thankful for their hospitality.

The food was amazing and the server was so kind and friendly. They only had one pizza oven working while we were there and they were working their hardest to get us our food. 10/10
