La Finestra sul Golfo

We stumbled upon this place while coming back from a very packed Portofino, and it ended up being one of our favorite meals we’ve had in Italy. Seems like the restaurant is owned by a family, and from the minute we entered Diego (the chef) and his family were so so welcoming. The food was impeccable and authentic, you could tell it was really made from the heart, not to mention the beautiful presentation. Will be coming here again if I find myself in Recco.

We arrived later than expected to our air BnB and this restaurant was within walking distance, still open, and able to accommodate a party of four when we called at 9pm.

When we were seated, the server brought us each a small glass of prosecco and a crostini with a marinated anchovy, red peppercorns, olive oil, and a large caper. It was a great start to the meal.

I got the spaghetti with truffle, my wife got a ravioli dish with fish, and our friends got the spaghetti with seafood (min order of two).

Everything was very good and reasonably priced, but the star was the spaghetti with seafood dish. It looked so good, full of mussels and clams, a few shrimp, and a langoustine; I was sad I didn't get it too.

But then we came back a few days later and I was able to have an order of it for myself, and it was hands down the best meal I had in Italy, and one of the best meals I've ever had.

We got some appetizers this time: marinated anchovies, and deep fried anchovies. I've never had anchovies before this trip, and I was expecting the oily, salty, fishy profile that people describe when you have them on pizza. This is not the case. They are very light, clean, and fresh in flavor, not fishy at all. If you have to pick one, go for the marinated anchovies. The deep fried anchovies, while tasty, are similar in taste and texture to other deep fried fish (eg a fish stick).

The red house wine is good, but the sparkling white house wine is better, and that's coming from someone who doesn't generally like white wines.

We also indulged and got dessert. Three of the four of us got affogato, a vanilla ice cream in coffee, and I got the lemon sorbet with passion fruit. A nice and decadent way to end our meal.

The servers and hostess are friendly and welcoming.

While it might be a little bit of a trek to get to depending on where you're staying in Recco, it is worth the visit. And you probably wouldn't stumble upon it if you were just walking around the town center.

A restaurant worth recommending! Delicious food, very nice service! Unfortunately prices quite high, food of course deserves its price indisputably! I do not understand since when service is added to the bill in Italy, which is often too high. However, the restaurant is fully worth a visit! We spent there a very nice evening in a friendly atmosphere. A bowl for the dog was also found :)

Food was amazing best I’ve tasted in Italy. Great service , beautiful views , very clean restaurant , authentic Italian food , and everything was made fresh. Highly recommend and will definitely be back again.

un posto davvero bello!!! And the food is more than perfect, portions are more than enough. It is a tucked away gem of a restaurant. with a beautiful view of the golfo. Great for Sunday lunch or get togethers.

The pasta al pesto is simply fresh and exquisite!

Everything about this place is perfect! The staff, the food, the atmosphere, everything. We were in Recco for one day and stopped there for lunch. It was so good, we went back for dinner. The calamari lasagna with pistachios was delicious! Everyone's meals and desserts were just the best! can't wait to go back!!

I’ve been travelling Italy and trying out their amazing food, by far this is the best restaurant I’ve eaten in, amazing and tasty menu with a twist. Will definitely come again on my next visit.

Nice quaint spot with a view on the Portofino Mountain. Very well prepared quality/fresh fish served by courteous staff. On the pricier side, but when food and service are top I consider it worth it.

Ottimo ristorante, finalmente piatti diversi dal solito menù e con un gusto eccellente. Complimenti! Prezzo adeguato alla qualità del cibo.

Un'esperienza di crudo ESAGERATA consiglio vivamente per chi vuole capire davvero che gusto abbia il pesce.
Primi sublimi... mi sono innamorato al primo boccone dei paccheri al ragù di polpo, e complimenti vivissimi per lo spaghetto alle vongole e bottarga cremoso e avvolgente. Dolci ben presentati e fatti in casa. Mi ha convinto così tanto che ho deciso di tornarci a cena... lascio qualche foto per farvi capire quanto sia eccellente quanto proposto dallo chef.

Ambiente molto carino, ottimo cibo, difficile scegliere le portate visto l'ampia scelta e tutto buonissimo.

CONSIGLIATISSIMO!!
Siamo stati ieri sera 14 agosto. Siamo arrivati tardi, verso le 21.30, senza prenotazione eppure siamo stati accolti in modo molto caloroso. Hanno accettato anche i nostri 4 cani. Abbiamo mangiato da dio. Porzioni abbondanti, pesce freschissimo. Cruditè da favola, così come i primi e la frittura.
Personale gentilissimo e molto disponibile.
