Volcano Skali Parking P2

Good place to park to walk to the lava (600 meter walk). Parking costs 1000 for a car. There are also mobile toilets. Please note that the walk is really slippery so bring hiking shoes and maybe sticks.

Plenty of parking spaces. Have portable washroom on site. Knowledgeable rangers on site. 1000 ISK parking fee.

10-15 mins walk has brought us up close to the tip of the 2021 lava flow.

Then we took Path C to go view the lava from higher up. The wind gust is no kidding; strong to a point that we couldn’t walk forward or even just stand still. Be prepared.

Path was steep at time but not too bad. Loose gravel; need to use more cautious when coming down hill.

Took us 1.5 hour to the peak at 200m high; including a few photo stops. Didn’t go all in as the wind was way too over powered to feel safe to continue.

Overall, an unforgettable experience. One of the highlights of my Iceland trip.

A parking lot, about 2 km from the lava field of the 2021 eruption. This is the easiest spot to see how the lava from this eruption coverd the vally. Some of the lava is still smoking, even after 2 years.

We were lucky to get to trek this trail a couple of times to see this amazing Litli Hrútur volcano 🤩🌋 Absolutely incredible experience!
Took about 4/5 hours to walk (there and back) Not including time taken at the volcano site itself. Recommend good walking boots!
There are a couple of portable toilets at beginning of the trail in Parking 2. Also about 1000 ISK for all day parking.

Easy to reach the lava flow, nice view for that. There are some hiking routes, shortest ~ 40min, longest takes ~6hours

One of accesses to the active volcano. Outdoor restrooms are also available for free. Not crowded but drivers need to be careful to park vehicles due to many big pebbles.

Well worth the hike up. Recommend you go all of the way, but the 12km one way at a minimum to see the new flow and volcano.

Fantastic experience to get to see an active volcano so close with the flowing lava fields. Parking was fantastic right at the start of the trail and can pay on the app easily. Iceland are very good at setting up natural events like this.

8-9 km walking to a close look on the ettuption (July 2023). Reach 20m from live volcanic lava.

The hike up the wiewpoint on the hill takes approx 30-45 minutes and definetly worth It, you see the all volcano. But even with a 4 minutes walk you'll reach the steaming lava! A must spot to go.

Do arrive early when hiking to the volcano. There is a restroom herr but not on the hike or at the volcano lookout site, so donuse the bathroom before you get on the trail and bring plenty of eater especially on hot days.

Best car park, charge is high, but way shorter walk than others

Do not be afraid from the long walk- do it and you will be rewarded by a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
