Cool stop if you're in the area. Pretty strong hot spring emitting lots of steam and a pretty high water fountain. Good educational signs. Road there is a gravel road with a few deeper potholes

Located in the southern part of the Reykjanes Peninsula, Gunnuhver hot spring is an impressive part of the larger geothermal area of the same name, formed by earthquakes and corresponding crustal movements in 1967. Gunnuhver is one of the largest mud springs in Iceland. According to a folk tale, the name of the spring is said to come from the evil spirit Gunna, who once caused mischief as a haunted ghost and was therefore driven into this bubbling pot. The wooden walkway allows you to walk quite close to the hot spring and through the sulfurous clouds. An interesting and impressive place to see – and smell – a geological phenomenon! Free parking lots are available just a few steps away.

We were here during winter and very bad weather... And it resulted in an adventure to reach geothermal pools. Very athmospheric place.

Close to the Blue Lagoon you’ll find this sparkling place. You can park your car close to these steamy eruptions. Also nice is a walk to the ligthouse. Enjoy!

A sight for sore eyes! An unlimited supply of steam that never stops steaming! How does it do that? Very amazingly! You have to see it to believe it! Definitely worth a visit.

It is amazing to see a complete geothermal area. In the black you can see a lagoon and the lighthouse.
