We actually visited this late at night on a wing and a prayer! Parking was easy but take care in Winter as it’s not cleared. But so glad we made the effort. Paths well marked out and please stick to them. What a wonderful geological place to visit.

Found easily off of the road, the massive fluff of steam gives it away.
Stay to the walkways, and in winter it can be very slippy.
Definitely worth a visit !
Free to see
No toilets or cafe here.

Theses hot springs and the location was amazing! There was so much smoke coming from the ground and beautiful colors in the area. The a volcano near and the whole area is like old dried lava. Amazing, was so amused for this to be my first stop and got me really excited. Short small simple walk with amazing views! You can walk a little further down to see some smaller hot springs in the distance as well!

This place is an amazing experience, a must visit during sunset time, also there is a light house nearby if anyone wants to experience it. Please do remember this is a sulphuric hot spring which will stink of it when close to it. So do cover your nose.

Beautiful deep reds and yellows of this hot springs and the hint of sulphur in the air. We visited the day after the volcanic eruption so was very quiet. We were the only ones there at the time.

Found this little place completely by mistake. Had no idea it was here.
Thankyou Geocaching App. If you don't know what that is go and look it up. You're welcome.
Free to get in like most things on the island. Slippery in the winter so be careful when trekking up towards the spring.

I absolutely loved it. The water bubbles furiously, and you can see it from both the viewing platforms. As the hot water comes in contact with the cold wind, it quickly turns into steam and it can get very dramatic.
The parking is free - we parked on the West parking, so that we could take the car to the lighthouse and the cliffs.
The place has nicely designed wooden walkways and viewing platforms.
If you have a car, make this trip. You won't regret it.

It's a nice stop. Not much to see here in this spot, alone, but from here, we walked up to the lighthouse nearby. Then, to the edge of the cliff. If you enjoy the walk, you'll certainly enjoy the view. It wasn't packed, we came early. Iceland weather is certainly unpredictable, got very windy, and sprinkled. The history of Gunna was pretty interesting. The wrath of a woman. Wow

Short drive on track to get to free car park. No other facilities. Interesting for 10 minute look around.

Pretty cool Hot Spring! I would definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the area. It isn’t to far from the KEF airport. The smoke can go sooo high!

Really cool spot to visit a close enough drive from KEF airport, with the Gunnuhver volcano crater you can hike up to just above, be prepared for the smell of rotten eggs though!

Nice place to visit. A geothermally active area with mud pools, steam vents, and trails and elevated viewing platforms.

Very impressing and easy to access. Pleasant walkway to discover the hot spring from up close. Can be smelly though.

From quite a distance one can smell the aroma of sulphur. Approaching closer the hot spring can be better appreciated by the intense fog and mist it produces. With a blue sky as the backdrop and a dragon of hot steam roaring up, it would be a great place to pose for a memorable photo.

Short walk from the parking lot and we’ll worth the trip.

Absolute must visit if in the area.
Ample free parking on site. We parked in the west car park and there was loads of room.
Can then use the brilliant walkways to see the different viewing areas.
We also left the car here and walked the 20 minute walk past the lighthouse and to Valahnukamol which was also great.

Great place to visit. Lots of parking, a large viewing platform, and a brilliant view of mud flats.

Great stop if you are in the area. Lovely wooden pathway all around the geothermal area so you can look at all the different hot spring pools. Very strong sulfuric smell, which definitely adds to the experience! Informational boards to read along the way. Would recommend :)

Free parking a few metres from the geothermal area. Boardwalk takes you around the site with information boards along the way. Powerful sulphur smell. The smoke was so dense on the viewing platform on our visit you could not see your hand in front of your face - quite an experience. The wind will clear it after a short time. From here to the lighthouse and coast is a 20 minute walk - well worth it in good weather!
