Such an important and historic place " The Agori Fort " but in lack of maintainance of this 6th century historic Fort it looks wreckage only. It is situated on the bank of Son river but the government totally neglected this Fort. It is located about 10 km from chopan near Obra in Sonbhadra District. The roads are very good to reach here but there is no any sign near the fort on roadside. New people must pay attention and ask around the place to reach here. Very sad for the attitude of Government towards the fort. Must visit

A poorly maintained fort on the bank of Son river. But, location is amazing

16th centuary mughal emprer Aurngzeb attack on fort and kill more people and looted tresury of fort gold and silver, dimolised hindu temple situated under fort.

Agori Fort is a fort located at distance of about 10 km from Chopan near Obra at riverside of Son River, in the Mirzapur district, which is 35 km from Robertsganj, on SH 5 Road in the Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh India. There is a temple of Goddess Kali. This is Religious place for the Agori Baba. Agori Fort was the residential palace of the Kharwar and Chandel dynasty.
The war between Molagt King and Veer Lorik was held here. There is an artistic idol of the Goddess Durga in the fort at the entrance to the courtyard. There is a well, which is said to be fed from some river. Thousands of people come here for worship from far away. Upon leaving fortress there is an ochre mountain, local people say that this mountain was launched edged sword.

There is a stone in the form of an elephant at the center of river son which is called Krmaamel elephant of Molagt King who was killed by Veer Lorik. The fort can be reached by boat from Chopan.

It's good for visit but some people are making it worst...

I visited this oldest fort on 29september 2017 and observe the historical importance of this monument.
