MacFarlane Memorial Church

macfarlane Memorial Church at Kalimpong is beautifully located on hilltop. You have to climb 80 odd steps. Neat and clean place. Beautiful architecture. Nice preyer hall. You will find beautiful flora and fauna around the church. It is worth to have the experience to stay in the hall for a while during prayer time.

If you are thinking to visit Kalimpong , i highly recommend you to keep this church in your go to list... This is the oldest church in the town... The interior and the design will give you a Scottish vibe..
In addition to it, is a scenic view of the valley...

I am lucky that day I opted visit this place . This church got got extraordinary architectural view . but that is not everything, the breathtaking view from it's garden along with cold breeze make me mesmerized. If the gate is locked please ask someone nearby. visit at evening time or late afternoon. it is very near to bus stand.

This church is almost 110 years old. Very clean. Classic gothic structure. The view is very good.

The church was named after William MacFarlane, the first missionary from the Church of Scotland who visited Darjeeling. The church is visible from almost all parts of the town and is the most prominent landmark. The foundation stone of the church was laid on 24 February, 1890, and it was opened on November 1, 1891. The place has a great vibe and is very popluar among local people.

attended the service last week with my family during my vacation. Very blessed indeed. The worship choir, church choir are so good. Though i didn't know their language i could understand most part of the sermon by the Rev. It was Very powerful. Easily one of our best memories of Kalimpong.

A short walk from the market area. The place is well kept, clean and offers an excellent view of kanchenjunga. The mass is held twice on sunday. The architecture is splendid and the church is a must visit for all tourists to kalimpong.
