Sri Ranganathar Temple ஸ்ரீ அரங்கநாதர் திருக்கோயில்

Om namo narayanaya 🙏. One of the Ancient temple in Namakkal District. One of the Rock-cut temple in Tamilnadu/India. Located at very near to Namakkal Bus Stand (Walkable distance only). Main deity of this temple is Lord Vishnu. To reach Namakkal, frequent buses available from Erode, Karur, Salem and Tiruchirappalli.

It was really happy experience with the temple. It is located on the main road. But when u enter into the temple u will feel a different experience with the place.
Temple is completely build using stone. Temple was constructed in 8th century pallavas period.
Main deity Narasimma is a stone carved cave temple. Shiva and bhrama god sculpture also carved on the same stone. The other two God's sculpture can only be seen when u enter into the mulasthanam, but due to covid situations people are not allowed to enter inside now.
When u ask the prohits they will explain u the specialities and sthalapurana in great way.

Parking is not available just near the temple due to temples location. Parking is available near Anchaneya temple

It’s a very old beautiful temple for Shri Aranganathar (laying down position), the temple is carved inside the rock and the statue is part of the main rock. amazing place.

Such a beautiful temple. But they only open for limited time 9-11 am and 5-7pm. Very peaceful darshan of Shri Ranganatha and thayar. Few steps to climb, but worth the experience

With above introduction, Ranganathar is always seen in Sayanakolam on Ananthan aka Adisheahan. But in NAMAKKAL Ranganathar is seen lying on Karkotan. This snake has 5 heads and lion's face This is the only temple like this. Must visit place. Best place for meditation.

Good Temple. This is a rock cut cave Temple built in the Same time of Namakkal Narashimha And anjaneya Temple.But this Temple is opened for a limited time. We must plan accordingly because there are some steps which are so straight upward.Perumal here is in sayana thirukola ( in sleeping position). Deity is Same like srirangam.More inscriptions when seeing deity. Built before 1200 years. Good maintanence. Peaceful place. As it is so tall no disturbances when meditating. Feeling spiritual And peace.

A lesser known temple of Namakkal but is steeped in history and mythology. Ranganathar is very huge and is a rock cut. He is found sleeping on Karkotaka, a snake king (Usually he is found reclining on Adi Sesha). There are several Gods and Rishis around Ranganatha, worshipping him. The terrified demons Madhu and Kaitabha are at his feet. Goddess Ranganayaki graces in a separate shrine. You will have to climb 50 steps to reach the temple. A wonderful temple not to be missed. The idol of Kubera below the shrine of Ranganathar is very special.
