Huge number of birds to watch … hardly an hour to spend and winter is the best time to go

I became a fan for this place, a very small place but will have a peaceful day when we visit there, recommend to visit in weekends.

This is an excellent place for bird lovers. You can see thousands of big cranes and migratory birds here. Cranes from Siberia, Russia, and other countries migrate to this place during the winter. They stay here till the end of the winter season. You can also see other species of birds. Winter is the best season to visit this place. It is about 10 kilometers away from Guntur city.

Beautiful place to observe the migratory birds

Super place we can see variety of birds which came from other countries. Entry ticket is 10 rs. Food stall is also available.playing area is there for children. In 30 minutes we can cover all the area, if you are interested we can spend more time.

It is a very peace places you can see all the birds chirping around the place as you peacefully watch them and you have to pay a entrance fee of 20 rupees and it also has a parking lot to park your vehicles

I've been it there and feel that I'm lucky to see it. All the birds over there are very comfortable and their nesting period and baby birds and fishing skills of pellicans and water dives of the birds are an eyes feasting sights. One should definitely visit it. Coming to the maintenance part, system was not going in good direction as they are demanding visitors and beggars menace and the very serious problem to be taken care is of the young couples whose inappropriate activities spoil the beauty and value of the place. Rest is fine. Moreover a small dissatisfaction is that they didn't provide the view of whole lake or a round view by making the arrangement around the lake or pond. It is on only one side which covers only a view of around 160 degrees.

Though you feel it as a small Sanctuary bird population is very high here. You can see huge number of spot billed Pelicans or grey Pelicans, Painted storks and Glossy Ibis etc.. Children enjoy a lot watching Pelicans taking off from water and landing directly into water in this place. You can watch these big birds with heavy wings from very close compared to other bird sanctuaries. It is really nice place for kids, birds watchers and for Photographers. If you love photography you can easily spend half day in this place. This place is located around 9 to 10 kms from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. One can also see how Pelicans hunts fishes in this place.

It is situated about 20km from khaza Tollgate on NH -- 16 Highway.One of the best birdsanctuaries adorning AP state being maintained by AP forest dept. Varsities of migrating birds from foreign countries came for temperary stay here to laytheir eggs and after hatch they resume long journey back to home where they belongs.

Best locality for birds and also there are seasonal breeds which will come on a particular months. Such a peacefull place for bird lovers. So many upgrades were held to develop the spot ❤

Uppalapadu "Bird Protection Centre" to be precise, is the breeding point of Grey pelicans. And major similar migratory species.
It has a watch tower which gives a clear view fo the entire site. The spaces are planned as linear path wath along the banks of the lake, with pavement of 2m wide and landscape on both sides. The lake side has an alluminium metal railings and the other side is guarded with metal mesh of approx 7ft height
It has a huge parking facility for the two wheeler, 4wheelers and even buses.
There aminities like cafeteria, children's play zone, resting gazibos and a fully air conditioned visitors gallery On the southern edge of the lake
There are no educational center but it has bords which shows the information about the birds in the lake.
Many bird watchers, professional wildlife photographers visit this place often and its is very near from guntur and Vijayawada for a weekend drive.
This place is under the control of Ap forest department, Guntur division as per yeh discussion approx 150-300 visitors visit this place on weekends. There is no boating facilities here as in the kolleru lake.
The lake area is has a dense population of avian species and the best season for visiting is winters form September to March and January is the main breeding month where you can see small chicks very close

Uppalapadu Bird Sanctuary is a perfect travel destination . If you are nature lover, you should not miss this place. Its a sheer beauty watching those pelicans glide on the waters from the watch towers. a good camera & binoculars is what you need and you can spend hours watching :). 15,000 + Birds are around which come from Australia and Siberia. If you are around vijayawada this is the perfect season to make a visit
