(Visited in March 2021) - Finally visited this underrated place!

This was the official residence of the legendary Social reformer & Telugu literary giant, Sri Kandukuri Veeresalingam Pantulu garu (c.1848-1919 CE). This is now sort of a museum maintained by AP Archeology department with no charge of fees. The premises also possesses personal things & correspondence of Pantulu garu along with a separate building built for his beloved wife, Smt' Rajyalakshmamma. The first widow remarriage among upper caste Hindus in the entire South India region was performed here on 11th, December, 1881.

I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit the home of a great social reformer where he resided. The house has preserved some of his personal belongings and an extensive library. I was indeed lucky to have visited the place where this social reformer conducted widow marriages, a groundbreaking act at a time when society vehemently opposed such unions. His unwavering spirit breathed new life into the unfortunate widows by facilitating their remarriage.
