On our way to hills we stopped there for a quick tea break. It's a place by the teesta dam with all the local shops with snacks and tea. Also had a quite impressive view of Kangchenjunga from here.

Good place to visit if you are staying in Siliguri. You can also bring young kids with you. Cleanliness is also good. The view of the place is just awesome. One can have their meals in nearby hotels and restaurants. I must say it's a well maintained place. You can enjoy viewing Kanchenjunga in clear and sunny weather.

A beautiful place to spend the afternoon. Just sit beside the river, take some pics and enjoy the sunset. Of course the weather has to be nice. There is no direct conveyance to go there, u either have to drive there or hire a car.

Gajoldoba is famous among the tourist for the dam built for the irrigational purpose on River Teesta. Surrounded by dense Baikunthapur forest and meandering rivers Teesta and Mahananda, Gajoldoba with its surreal beauty has ensnared the hearts of tourist traveling to Dooars.

The amazing experience, specially the reflection of Kanchanjunga on the tista river as the sky was clear. You can have a walk through the bridge, and enjoy the Sun set view. Definitely u will never forget.

The barrage over our River Teesta, the sorrow of Sikkim. Bad roads greet you but the experience is scenic overall. A ride away from Dooars as well as Siliguri.

On 19th February, I visited this place for wildlife photography.Gazoldoba is a place where Teesta water roll due to Barrage construction on the Teesta river. On the left flank of the Teesta barrage the water rolls and a huge area has come up with reed plant and in the shallow water a lot of aquatic angiosperms and algae grow. This left flank provide feeding area of migratory birds, which feed on algae and aqatic plants. However, on the main Teesta river upstream to the barrage the depth of water excepting rainy season comes to 5-7 ft height. Birds like Margenger, lapwings, kingfishers feed here small fishes. The height of the water varis according to opening and closing of Barrage lockgates. Far to the northern part of the teesta regular shelling of Indian Army for training purpose is done. Therefore , the upstream area may be one km away from Main Barrage is not safe for birders and birds also. Mainly in the upstream area large mumber of Rudy shelduck is found. Ospray , kites and Eagles are also foumd here.
I reached at Gazoldoba at 7 am from siliguri and hired a boat for whole day to photograph water birds.The boatman on an average charges Rs. 1200-1500 per day. A single canoe type boat is the best for the birders.
One can come here by hiring a cab or there are auto rickshaw from siliguri town itself. It is 30 km from siliguri. After reaching here, I mean near the western part of the barrage road ,there are tea stalls, one can have breakfast and boatmans are available here and can hire a boat after negotiating rate and time. The shop of Niranjan boatman is welknown. There are other boatman like, Bhajan malo, Niranjan halder, they are reliable and have good knowledge on birds.
On my day the weather was fine and enjoyed the day by photographing some birds like, red crested pochard, Rudy shelduck, Small pratencole , and many more.

A barrage built on the Teesta by Jessop construction for the WB Irrigation Department. Make sure to have a view of both the side of the barrage. On the upstream you can see the Teesta being halted and on the downstream you can see it gaining speed if the sluice gates are open. Here you can see the force of nature and human ingenuity having a marriage to make life a bit easier for human beings.
