Kankali Mata Mandir

Raipur @ This is the ancient Kankalin Mata mandir (temple) of the capital. Devotees come to visit the mother on the occasion of Navratri. There is also a beautiful pond in front. The temple is grandly decorated during Navratri. The shadow of the temple falls on the pond, it is an attractive sight.

It is said that the Goswami Naga sages of the Dashnami Sanyasi sect had meditated here. One day they all dreamed of the divine deity, and were inspired to build a temple complete with a Kund here. Following tradition. a small Shiva Temple was built in the middle of the Kund. On all three sides of the pond. stones have been arranged in an exquisite manner, enhancing the antiquity of the temple. A huge banyan tree shelters the great Kankali Temple. The ‘Samadhis’ of the sages can also be seen here.
