It is not actually a natural lake but a water body formed due to the construction of Mapithel Dam across the Thoubal river displacing the original settlers of the place, which is now submerged under water. It becomes a scenic place like a natural lake surrounded by the hills. Now many people visit as a picnic spot. A favourite place for nature lovers.

Overwhelmed with the site. Vast water body surrounded with mid range hills makes it stay and keep taking a glance at it for hours without interruptions.
Sharing a brief history about the lake. The entire village was based in the valley. Due to additional water capacity, it was decided to dislocate the village to higher altitude. You can see top of the church, a trunk of a tree above the water. Just imagine entire village is under the water surface. One day it could lead for treasure hunt 🙂
Highly recommend for nature lovers, meditators, etc.
