One of the 108 divya desam.

Will have enter through a crowded market street.

LIMITED car parking facilities.

Once you enter the temple, it will be peaceful.

Had a great darshan.

Priests were polite and explain about the deity.

Can have a divine darshan very close to the deity.

Sri Ulagalanda Perumal (Perumal who measured the world) Temple is also called as Sri Thrivikraman Temple and is 43rd of the 108 Divya Desams. Thayar's name is Poongothai/Pushpavalli Naachiyar. It is situated in Thirukovilur of Kallakurichi District. The temple covers an area of about 5 acres. The temple tower is about 192 feet tall and this is the 3rd tallest in Tamil Nadu.

The story of Ulagalanda Perumal happened during Mahabali Chakravarthy period. Perumal took a avatar of dwarf Brahmin named Vamana and asked for 3 feet of land as dhaanam from Mahabali and he too accepted. Perumal then grew skyhigh and kept one foot on land and one foot on sky (mannulagam and vinnulagam) and third foot of Mahabali's head as per his request. The same you can see at the moolasthanam.

Ulagalanda Perumal, in moolasthanam stands at height of 35 feet with his right leg at a right angle to the body and parallel to the ground, placed on the head of the demon king Mahabali. The two left-hand fingers of the Lord are seen stretched out, which indicates that he took two steps to measure the world. And one finger of his right hand refers to the questions that Lord posted to the demon king, where he cloud place his third step. Moolavar is made of Tharu wood with one foot on earth and one foot raised towards sky. Mahabali is also seen kneeling there. Durgai, the goddess who usually is present in Shiva temples, is present in this Perumal Temple near the moolasthanam.

We visited this temple en route our trip for Tiruvannamalai. We just reached the temple at its closing time and couldn't explore about the temple much. Temple timings are from 6 AM to 12:00 PM and 4 PM to 8 PM.

A must visit temple for its historical and monumental importance.

Om namo narayanaya 🙏. Ancient temple. One of the Divya Desam (Praised by Azhwars). Located at near by Thirukoilure bus stand ( Walkable distance only). Main deity of this temple is Lord Vishnu (Trivikrama). Frequent buses available from Thiruvannamalai and Villupuram. From here, Thiruvannamalai is 35 KM only which is very famous temple in Tamilnadu. Also Aadhi Thiruvarangam temple is around 20 KM distance only which is famous Vishnu temple.

A famous and ancient temple, a huge one with separate shrines for the Lord Thrivikrama and Mother (Thaayaar) Sree Pushpavalli (பூங்கோதை நாச்சியார்). The main deity உலகளந்த பெருமாள் (Ulagalandha Perumal) is huge with his right leg held aloft as if measuring the whole sky. There's also the beautiful shrine dedicated to Sree Venugopalaswamy with his consorts Rukmini and Satyabhama. There's a belief that if you pray here and tie up a cradle you will be blessed with a child soon.

There are many sculptures of intricate details. On the whole, the temple needs a lot of attention towards better lighting. This is worth a visit at least once.

One of the must visit temple if anyone planning for Thiruvannamalai. This temple is located approx 30 kms from Thiruvannamalai.

The car parking can be made once you cross the main rajagopuram, after crossing rajagopuram there will lot of place for car.

The Perumal present here is in the form of standing with right leg measuring the earth and sky. The right light will be lifted position.

This is the main Divya Desam which is said to be where three alwars started their converge.

A very famous temple that everyone should watch.
The temple campus is quite big and Puratasi month is crowded heavily so plan your schedule appropriately.
There is a spl 10 rupee ticket.

The ulagalandha perumal big statue is the main God with sridevi, bramma
The statue is huge with one feet in floor
One towards the sky
As if to show the king
That he s superior
He has no place to keep the feet on earth
Especially as he granted the wish to take 3 feet of land wherever he wish
The temple is ancient one
Very big praharam
Famous in Thirukovilur
I visited on avani avittam
The darisanam was too good
Better to avoid 12 - 4pm

An important Sri Vaishnava Divya Desam, this has connection to the Vamana avatar of Dasavatars. The Moolavar is called Trivikrama, made of sacred wood treated in herbs. This gigantic deity, from which one can't take eyes off, has been hugely praised by many Alwars. This kshetram played a vital role in the compilation of Divya Prabhandam. Please do not miss to visit the sannidhi of Vamana behind the Moolavar.

Visited this place yesterday after 15 long years. This place has a different vibe I would say. The standing position of Ulagalandha Perumal makes you awestruck. We visited around 10.30 AM on Sunday and there was no much crowd.

This Temple is facing towards east with an imposing eleven-tiered Rajagopuram with a height of about 192 ft (59 m) and has three prakarams.

The Rajagopuram is considered as the third tallest temple tower in Tamil Nadu, after Srirangam Ranganathaswamy temple and Srivilliputhur Andal Temple. The temple covers an area of 5 acres (20,000 m2) and houses residential buildings in the precincts around the temple tower.

It is one of the 108 Divyadesam dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Ulagalantha Perumal and his consort Lakshmi as Poongothai. The temple is believed to have been built by the Medieval Cholas, with later contributions from Vijayanagar kings and Madurai Nayaks.

Ulagalantha Perumal Temple or Trivikrama Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu located in Tirukkoyilur. This Lord has their own weapons in the hands interchange each other than the normal Vishnu statue. This statue is very tall and elegant but it is built in the small.shrine difficult to see him in an elegant manner. Pooja timings from 5 to 6.40 pm so no one permit to enter into it.

Sri Vamana asked Sri Bali chakravarthy three yards as gift in turn Sri Bali chakravarthi accepted it but Sri Vamana started to expand first two steps coveref entire heaven n earth m last step on Sri Bali chakravathis head since Sri Maha Vishnu expanded so much Sri Mahavishnu aks where to land the third step Bali who has promised three steps offers his head as third step then Maha vVishnu becomes Trivikrama since he manifests earth ,mid air n heaven is called as Trivikrama then Bali chakravarthi was pushed to the lower realm called Patala n Sri Trivikrama blesses Bali the position Indra in next manvantara.

Thirukoilur Ulagalantha Perumal Temple - Rich in culture and heritage; This amazing temple where the initial 4000 Dhivya Prabandhams originated, is in dire straits.

Vegetable vendors have encroached the main entrance and set up shops inside the Temple, that the main entrance itself is blocked. The back entrance is blocked apparently due to maintenance.

It is shocking to see a hundred bats hanging on the Praharam ceiling before reaching the main deity. The stinking smell, the poor lighting, and slippery floors take away any little piety that a visitor would come to the temple with.

It is one of the 108 Dhivya Desams and it is receiving such a treatment. It is appalling to see the callous attitude of everyone associated with the temple who have let it degrade to this state. Oh Lord, Arise, show your splendour and enlighten these mortals !!

Never even have a second thought in visiting this wonderful temple, located at Tirukovilur. The temple is awesome and even 1000 eyes is not enough to admire the beauty of the Thiru Vikrama of The Mighty Ulagalantha Perumal Diety. Thayar Sannathi is located seperately within the temple premises. Must Visit, atleast once in life.
From Literature :- One of the Nadu Nadu Divyadesam among 108 Divyadesams, where Sri Ulagalantha Perumal and His Piratti Lakshmi as Sri Poongothai or Sri Poongoval Nachiyar gives their seva. Also, this is the Vaishnavite Temple where the first 3 Alwars namely, Poigai Alwar, Bhoothathalwar and Peyalwar met and rendered the Divya Prabhandha Paasuram on the Perumal.

One of the ancient temples in Tamilnadu situated in Thirukovilur. If you are visiting Thiruvannamalai, it is easy to plan this as well. It's roughly 30kms from Thiruvannamalai and the road connectivity is real good (4 ways), you can comfortably hit 100 kmph and doesn't take more than 30mins. It was very normal crowd when I visited on a Saturday morning. The priests here are not rushing in the sanctum, they allow a peaceful worship. There is some space before the temple entrance itself where we can comfortably park atleast 20 cars. On a busy day, better planning is required.

Very nice and devotional place. One of the Divya Desam of lord Vishnu. Big temple with big perumal in moolasthanam.(Lord trivikrama) 3 Alwars present with perumal is the highlight. Durga present in perumal temple is special here. Lord Vamana shrine is the exact back to the moolasthanam. Lord Lakshmi Narasimha, Lord Krishna, lord Lakshmi narayana & Lord Lakshmi varahar is present in the outer prakaram. 10-15 kilometres near to the temple is aadhi thiruvarangam. There is a math called rahothama mutt near the temple.Thorukovilur is famous for temples and there is a Shiva shrine called veerateshwar temple available on the East side of the river bank. All these temples can be planned in a single day.
