Visited the site. Hidden gem in western Rajasthan. What beautiful architecture, great place. Must visit. Beautiful drive from Barmer and while returning to Jaisalmer returned via internal road and saved 30 km and good 45 min.

A very famous historical place situated near Barmer. It's an archaeological site now which was inhabited around 1200 years back. Since then it's much of a ruin only. There are many local and historical stories attached to this place. It's a must visit place if one's around Barmer. People go further to Rann of Ridhana from here which falls on the same route. So quite a few things can be covered once someone is on this route.

35 km west of Barmer. Took local bus. Get off road, walk approx 2 km. Easy to miss entry road. No signs of the World Heritage site. From original 100, only 5 temples remaining. Carry water food. Don't be alone. The site looks abandoned, sadly. Plenty of loafers around. Keep aloof. Majestic architecture. Need almost 90 min atleast. If not in a cab, local bus freqncy is very poor. Be ready to walk 3 km to highway to take return bus unless you have a car. Be patient as the site has just a ticket seller who may be away. Must carry water food good walking shoes.

The Kiradu temples are a group of ruined temples located in the Barmer district of Rajasthan, India. Kiradu town is located in the Thar desert, about 35 km from Barmer, near the Para, Jasai Road . It's a nice place to explore the sculpture and art.

Even in a state of ruins, the temple looks soo beautiful. Unfortunately less awareness among people and negligence from government is slowly killing a piece of ancient history. Located just around Barmer, it's a must visit place to preserve our culture and heritage.

It's a beautiful place. But no effort from government to preserve the heritage place. The work on the temple are exquisite but weathered down. Many parts of temple have been broken down. Still the temples are beautiful and a sight to behold.

It is a beautiful depiction of ancient Indian sculpture and architecture with delicate panel detailing. This place is not very famous in tourism circuit in Rajasthan, but really needs attention of both public and protector. This archaeological heritage is not handed over to ASI, and state govt is not at all keen to maintain it. This desert temple comple need more excavation, supportive rebuilt, preservation of art work.
If you are visiting Kiradu, from Barmer, try to visit as early morning as possible. U can catch visual of peacock siting on and around temples. And always search for Rampal, the Govt appointed care taker of this place if u are really interested to relish the art work. He is gem of a person and carry vivid interest in the sculpture panels on temple walls.

Kiradu Temples
Situated 35-40 km west of Barmer District, Rajasthan, the town of Kiradu is a low-key and very quiet place.
It is believed that this group of 108 temples was built between the 11th-12th centuries by the Chalukya Kings.
However, at present, out of those 108 temples, only five ruined temples are left, one of them being Someshvara Temple. Dedicated to Lord Shiva.
According to the legends, it is said that after the perilous attacks of the Turks and other foreign invaders, King Someshwar invited a great sage for restoring the prosperity of the entire kingdom. After completing all the rituals, the sage left behind one of his disciples to ensure the complete happiness and prosperity of the locals there even after he was gone.
However, as time passed and days transitioned into months and years, the locals almost forgot about the disciple, thus, with the passage of time and lack of proper care, the disciple became sick. Only a potter’s family took care of him and nursed him back to good health.
Hearing the condition of his disciple, the sage became furious with anger and cursed the whole village to turn into stone but before that he made sure that the potter’s family had left the village safely. It is since then that the village is believed to be under the sage’s wrath including the temples.
Till today, the locals are gripped by fear, myths, and a sense of mystery when it comes to visiting these temples.
However,The architectural prowess of these temples will simply blow your mind, the finesse and detailed work on the walls of these temples is a notable.

It's a historical site at Barmer. It is located around 35 to 40 Km from the Barmer Town. Ruins of temples is good site to visit and learn about their history. It is believed that these temples were built in 12th century by Parmara and Chalukyas. There are many stories about why people deserted these temples. Interesting one, locals tells such stories. But architecture of these temples are magnificent and shows that it was highly decorative. if you want to visit these temples they are about 35 km from Barmer town. You can rent a car or go on bike also. best to see. One caution that you should take, it is not regular tourist place so you will not get anything at this site so go with some preparation like water and some food.

The place is really beautiful, one of the hidden treasures of Rajasthan. The Kiradu temples are a group of ruined Hindu temples located in the Barmer district of Rajasthan. Epigraphic evidence suggests that the temples were constructed during the 11-12th century.

Theese 5 Mandirs (not Temples) are one of the most intricately carved examples of the Hindu culture, vandalised by the Muslim aggressors and neglected by ASI.

The ruins of at least five temples exist at Kiradu. Of these, the Someshvara temple, dedicated to Shiva, is the best-preserved structure. Epigraphic evidence suggests that the temples were constructed during the 11-12th century by the vassals of the Chaulukya (Solanki) monarchs.
