District Museum, Dibrugarh

The Dibrugarh District Museum was inaugurated on the 2 nd of Dec, 2020, on Axom Diwas by the Honorable Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal.

It has just one room of displays currently.

The pieces chosen for display are quite exquisite, and significant, particularly, the stone inscription in Prakrit.

The Gaja head is well preserved as are the Flying Apsaras.

Recently opened new building of Dibrugarh District Museum. Previously relocated from the premises of District Library to its own building. Still a long way to go to make this a rich museum and a place to visit in Dibrugarh.

An amazing place to visit for knowing the history and archaeology of Assam.

Small museum, not visited by many. Only one room is ready with articles for display. 2nd room is due for renovation. Top floor too is due for development.

Anyway one can visit it free of cost.

The museum is free to visit and currently actively maintains only one room which is certainly worth visiting in my opinion. I hope the government adds more material into this place and takes care of the other material which is kept in poor condition.
