It is a perfect place for adventurers & history hunters. It is a place where one can sit & imagine the life & valour of our ancestors 1000 years ago. Lot of history is buried in this fort, which is never discovered. Very little known about this fort.

Of course this is not the place for romantic couple & those who want to travel for taking romantic photos for their social media profile.

The Raisen Fort is situated in the Raisen district and is about 1.5 to 2 hours drive from the central city of Bhopal. However, note that there is a short trek to reach the main entrance gate to the fort. But the view of raisen city from the walkway once you reach a certain height is sure to take your breathe away spread over an entire expanse with hills providing a perfect backdrop.

Coming to the fort, it takes about 15-20 mins of trek and a short walk to enter the central area of the fort. You could explore the many small open pathways before reaching the central area, though just be careful while walking. Though the fort is spread across the entire hill, its construction is stunning. The fort must have been exemplary and royal when it was actually in use.

Once you enter the central area of the fort, you can see that on the left side, there is a temple of Lord Shiva. The temple's structure is beautiful, with all the pillars in perfect shape. Once you keep moving inside, you will see the Queen Palaces, where the queens used to stay. There is even a small structure that the security there told me is known as the Shringar Palace, or the dressing room for the queens. On one end, just below the flight of stairs where you climb to reach the kachahari or the court, is the entrance leading to the cellars below the fort. While the same is closed now, the security did tell me that the cellars are multi-floors deep and are pretty expansive from the inside.

Finally, when you reach the top floor, you have all the cannons lined up, which are over 600 years old and might have been used in war then. There is also the dargah on the top floor, and beside the same is a set of room-like structures used as a residential structure for the special guests visiting the fort.

The fort is beautiful and expansive overall, and you need at least 2-3 hours to cover the entire fort adequately, as per the map of the place. Thus, it is a must-visit place in Madhya Pradesh and holds significant historical importance.

I visited the Raisen fort with my family last weekend and I was amazed by its beauty and history. The fort is located on a hilltop and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. The fort has nine gateways, several domes, and ruins of old buildings that date back to the 11th century. It was once the stronghold of various rulers, including the Rajputs, the Mughals, and the Nawabs of Bhopal. The fort also has a Shiva temple and a dargah of a Muslim saint, which shows the harmony of different cultures and religions.

I enjoyed exploring the fort and learning about its past. It was a memorable experience for me and my family. I would highly recommend visiting the Raisen fort to anyone who loves history, culture, and nature.

The north-western corner of Gondwana is home to Raisen Fort, which is perched atop a hill. The 800-year-old fort has nine gates and a large stone wall surrounding it. The 11th century saw the construction of Raisen Fort. The historic fort also houses the shrine of the Muslim saint Hazrat Pir Fatehullah Shah and a temple devoted to Lord Shiva.

Within the walls of Raisen Fort are four palaces: Badal Mahal, Rohini Mahal, Itradan Mahal, and Hawa Mahal. There are palaces and rock shelters with stunning artwork inside the boundaries of the enormous mediaeval structure.

It is say that it is also a haunted place specially at night people avoid to go there. Although it is great historical place but there is no guide to describe the history of fort so you need to study before rush

Quaint, Pictorial and a Scenic Beauty, this Fort is; it's a lowkey hike, so I'd suggest eating a little something before going up here, or maybe taking some snacks along..

fort is located on a steep hill with the cemented approach road staying with the visitor for some distance. There are mostly steps and those are numerous and arduous
Must wear good sports shoes and carry water/snacks
This ruined fort on the top of a hill with spectacular views all around is simply wonderful. Once upon a time it was the site of a grand palace and other buildings. It has a long and complicated history. Every history buff and nature lovers should visit this fort.

The fort dates back to 11th century, with settlements possibly even older. It has been conquered and held by multiple dynasties over centuries and shows this in various architecture styles present. Monsoon would be the best time to visit this place.

I visited the fort in morning and while there was no ticket, a man haggled me for parking fee for my bike without there being any organised parking present. When asked for his permit he fled, stay aware of such scammers.

Amazing place! Words cannot describe such places.
Tip: It is huge! So carry water and reserve a good 3 hours to see it.

I could spend an entire day there sitting and contemplating how life was back then? How did people built such places? How did they run it? How did they live? And the trail of thoughts just goes on and on.

It is so huge that to map it in your head feels like solving a maze. You keep discovering structure after structure. And the emotion the architectural space brings about is just beyond visiting any modern day place.
