Haryana’s first civilian airport at Hisar will be inaugurated on Independence Day (15 August). Built at a cost of Rs 12.36 crore, it will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar,  Khattar said that the airport was built in record time with support from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

Hisar was among the airports selected by the Centre under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), also known as Udan. Pinnacle Air had bid for two routes – Hisar-Chandigarh and Hisar-Delhi. The airport is now its final stages of receiving approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and is expected to completely open up by 15 October. The Haryana government is looking to invite non-scheduled operators and provide them with incentives.

Along with the inauguration, Khattar will also sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SpiceJet to set up an integrated aviation hub spread across 4,200 acres of land under the second and third phase of the project. The existing runway will also be expanded from 4,000 ft (1,219.2 m) to 9,000 ft (2,347.2 m).

The state is also looking to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) to set up an international terminal and cargo hub at the airport. Hisar Airport was originally opened in 1965 and is used by the Haryana Institute of Civil Aviation.

The best airport in haryana. fully developed by 2030 the cost start with 12.36 crore. The total cost on it till fully developed is more than 1000 crore. Runway is very big. It's total area is 7,367 acres. It is a pride of hisar and hisarians. BJP is doing a best job. I am waiting for this to be fully developed. 👍👍👍

In Hisar city itself, the airport is about 1 km from the Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology; 2 km from the Blue Bird Lake; 4 km from the bus station along the National Highway 9, 5 km from the town center and main market area around Firoz Shah Palace Complex, 6 km from the Hisar Junction railway station, 7 km from Mahabir Stadium, 11 km from Hisar Military Station, 11 km from Amardeep colony, 27 km from Kanwari.

In 1965, Hisar airfield, spread over 194 acres (79 ha), was built for the Hisar Aviation Club. In 1999, Hisar Aviation Club was merged with Haryana Institute of Civil Aviation (HICA). The airport is managed by HICA, which provides flight training using light aircraft.[3]

In 1970-71, a privately managed air service was introduced from Delhi-Patiala-Hisar and Delhi which was terminated after a period of about 6 months due to being financially unviable.[4]

In 2002, the Delhi Flying Club (DFC) shifted all its flying activities and aircraft to Hisar from Safdarjung Airport in Delhi.[5]

This is first Airport of Haryana. It is 165 kms from Delhi IGI and 280kms from Chandigarh Airport. 140kms from Bhatinda airport.
City centre distance is 7 kms as it's bus stand.
Railway station is 8 kms from airport.
9kms from Pushpa complex, Hisar. Hisar is well connected with Punjab, Rajasthan, Chandigarh and Delhi by road and by Indian Railway.
