Wonderful place! One of the most adventurous place during the time we went. Little rain had made the full Sanctuary lush green and the flaura and fauna of this place is just amazing. You must try cycling here. It's a 7km long treck.

This is a good spot, for some one who want to spend the time in solitude and enjoy the nature. The entry fee is 150rs very costly as I feel. Bikes can be rented for 200rs for 3 hours. The cycles are of food quality the trail is bit up and down which is expected. There are couple of bridges on the way, which should have been a great sight when the water is flowing.
The trail is 7km up and 7k down. We cycled only half and came back (not accustomed to cycling). Do take water bottles and some snacks. Nothing is available on the way. Parking is possible on gate for 50 RS.

My parents and I visited this nature park without knowing what to expect. There were very few people which meant we could really experience the quiet solitude of nature, with birds chirping and views of the pine valleys. The full trail is 15 km (to the water reserve and back). We didn't know much about wildlife and didn't see any, though I imagine it's a great place for birding. The water reserve is not picturesque but the trail there is beautiful. We rented cycles (not the best quality) for 300/each and biked the 15 km (it was pretty flat and easy to cycle).

Great place to visit. Surprisingly not many people visit the actual catchment wildlife and the cab drivers just show the green valley from highway. But if you have time you can hire a bicycle and go for 7km (one way) trail. The trail is well maintained and scenic, it's worth going and taking kids as well. Once you are done for sure you will have a good night sleep 🙂

A brilliant walking trail in one of the most beautiful forest in India. Entry fee is Rs 150- a little steep, but it is 7 + 7km walking trail. You can get packed food. Only drawback is that time is only 10 to 4. Need to start early to complete the full trail. Nice souvenir shop.

It’s a 15 km trek(from the start point and back) within the sanctuary and I highly recommend it. The trek itself as well as the views are mesmerising. It’s a simple trek even beginner’s can do it. They have benches every 1 km apart to sit and take rest and to behold the breathtaking valley. They also provide bicycle on rent for 300 INR each. The trek provides a better vantage point compared to Green Valley viewpoint. It is under the jurisdiction of Shimla Forest Department and they charge 150 INR entry fee. They have a small souvenir shop which also serves hot Siddu and tea. This place is a must visit if you are looking for “off the beaten track” experience and want to indulge in the beauty and serenity of the pine forest.

Shimla Water Catchment Wildlife Sanctuary has a small entry fee. We paid around Rs. 500 for 3 people (150 per person and Rs. 50 car park). You can even rent a cycle. The path is a little uneven and there are hardly any railings along the way so only cycle if your confident.
It takes about 3-4 hours (approx 7 km) to cover the sanctuary. It’s recommended to go in the morning for bird watching. There are alot of scenic views and if your worried about completing the trail, there are sufficient benches and pit stops along the way, so definitely visit this place! I went there with my parents and we were able to complete the trail
.
Green Valley lies on National Highway 22 on the way to Kufri from Shimla. Its 8km from Shimla Old Bus Stand and 7.5 km from Kufri. Super accessible and a popular point to visit!

The price of ticket is 150 rs. Which is little bit costly . The price of hiring cycle is 200 . Cycles are very good in conditions. There are all mtbs.you can hire. There is a toilet in entry gate which is well maintained. And good in condition.

7km stretch of wilderness. Amazing place if you just want to be with nature. No food of water points so please make arrangements before starting. Cycles available if not interested in walking. Carry a stick as monkeys are also there.

A serene off road track of 13.5 kms (to and fro) amidst the pine trees to run or cycle on. One can witness different types of flora, listen to sounds of crickets and birds, or just sit around to witness the sunset. Quite a different experience.

I visited on a sunny , but cold January afternoon. I was alone. Quite frankly there was no one else in the sanctuary! Just me and wild animals. I saw a group of bright red coloured birds, francolins, a deer 🦌, and very cute owl. The whole path was covered with deep ❄ snow. Sometimes alone time is a luxury.

Shimla Water Catchment Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the best wildlife sanctuary in Shimla. The sanctuary is of 10 kilometer square in size. The landscape is so beautiful with the sloppy terrain and Devadaru dominated vegetation with a grassy ground story. The sanctuary is renowned for its biodiversity and the water catchment setup which is made before 1901 by Britishers. The sanctuary is inhabited by Mammals like Leopard, Himalayan Goral, Barking Deer, Yellow Throated Marten, Porcupine and Giant Flying Squirrel etc. There os a Bicycle Safari track is available in this sanctury which has a length of 7km inside the forest area. The site really good for spending a weekend with family and friends. Visit and Enjoy the Natural Beauty of Himachal...❤

Quite place to take a nature walk (or bicycle ride) far from the madding crowds! Cycles on hire are useful but could be in better condition.
