St. John's Diocesan means a lot to me as I have studied in this school for 15 years. I was not a popular student but still this place feels like my own home. I will never forget those beautiful days that I have spend here. The teachers and principal have always supported us a lot. I have learnt a lot of things from them. I am proud to be a part of Dio family.

Indeed one of the best girls schools in Kolkata with holistic and over all development of a girls child and brings up a student more disciplined and well behaved compared to others ....Puts on more emphasis on development in co-curricular activities apart from academics ....One OF THE BEST SCHOOL TO PREFER...

I've spent 12 years of my school life in this institution, there were both good and bad experiences but when we go back in time we don't always remember the bad experiences, rather the best parts. I'll always be thankful to Dio for making me whatever I'm today and I'll always cherish the memories. From teaching staffs to non teaching staffs I miss them all the dio family will always be a core memory for me
and ofcourse the campus. I wish I could understand your importance when I was in there as a student, but once a diocena always a diocena.

I have been a part of St. John's Diocesan Girls' H.S. School for 15 years . This school has always embraced me with a warm hug . This 15 years which seems to be long was not boring at all and definitely not long for me because of the ambience this place has .The teachers and the staff are all kind to the students and ready to help a lot. Presently I am studying in class 12 which is my final board year and due to this Covid Pandemic I released how much this school matters for me. I really love being a part of this family and will definitely miss this beautiful place which is like an abode to me . Dio will always reside in my heart forever . #ADiocenaForever

I have studied here from lower nursery to class 12.
We all have learned alot from our Dio which are very essential for our life. Not only study was our focus, we used to do many other extra curriculum activities and even there used to be family kind of environment between school mates and teachers. I think every child want this kind of environment.

This is not a school but home for diocenas. I have been here since 12-13 years. Now I am in 10 and I love spending time here rather sitting at my home. The environment, the greenary, the teachers all are like family. We are always engaged in different programs and activities. Everyone is treated equally here. Idk what I will do without Dio:). Proud to be a diocena!

The school is one of the oldest girl’s schools in Kolkata and was established in 1876 by a British missionary from Kent, England who devoted her life to the advancement of women's education in British India. From her diaries we know that the school started with 16 female students. The school was named St. John Diocesan in 1894 by Clewer Sisters of John the Baptist from Windsor, Berkshire. From 1908-31, St. John's Diocesan School remained the only Christian women's college of good repute in eastern India. On 7 April 1931, Beena Das who was a student of the school, shot the then Governor, Stanley Jackson for which the recognition of the status as a college was taken away by the Government. During its earlier days till the 1970s, it was a co- educational school. However, during the 1970s, the need for educational institutions for women in the city was felt. Since then the school has devoted itself to the betterment of female education only. It has more than 3,800 female students and is affiliated to the WBBSE and WBCHSE. It remains a premier educational institution of the city for the holistic development of the girl child. Now even after more than 100 years young women pass through their portals and emerge as strong capable citizens of our country.
