Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex Shimla

Gaiety Theatre is the pride not only of Shimla but of Himachal. This building was designed by Henry Irwin and completed in 1888. The first play filmed in this theater was "Time Will Tell".

This theatre is a historic building with a rich cultural and architectural heritage. It will give you a glimpse of British Raj. There are different halls related to paintings, sculptures and old photographs.

Designed by Henry Irwin and inaugurated in 1887, the Gaiety Theatre (or Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex, as it is now known as) was the focal point of Shimla’s cultural life during the days of the British Raj, with productions by leading theatre troupes being staged here. Later still, this theatre (which, even back then, spread across several buildings, including one which housed the police department) played host to famous personalities of the Indian theatre and film industry, such as Prithviraj Kapoor and KL Saigal.

The Heritage Cultural Complex was recently renovated and restored, and today hosts various cultural performances, ranging from theatre to magic shows. Besides the theatre, the building houses other spaces that are used for other cultural activities. We could not fit a performance into our itinerary, but we saw an interesting exhibition on the conservation of indigenous Himachali architecture.

Whenever in Shimla, must place to visit. Beautiful and spell bound paintings, and obviously the architecture. Mostly at this place cultural festivals, plays or painting exhibitions are going on, so a makes good place to be in.

It's dream come true for theatre actors to perform in this heritage theatre and forvtheatre lovee to watch performers. It gives a eeling of being in British era as the ambience is well maintained.

Gaiety Theatre or Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex is a significant tourist hot spot of Shimla. It is located on The Ridge, Shimla. It is the hub of cultural events of the state. It also very popular among Bollywood as many music videos and movies

This is the best place of shimla to visit..you can spend whole day there for seeing a single view..evening time view is so sweet.church timing is 11am to 5 pm. So go there before 5pm then 1st view the church then enjoy the evening time there..

After renovation looks perfect at night. This is at the most happening location at ridge Shimla where at any time you will find most people enjoying time with their families and friends.

A charming structure dating back to the 1880s. We were lucky to enjoy a free screening of Kati Patang during the Shimla Christmas Festival.

Recently renovated. White paint still going on. It's an iconic and historical building reminding us of British Raj era.

It is very old and unique building structure.

Its a fantastic palace to see near mall road. Its a famous place in shimla . Looks very beautiful in evening and night. Mood light around it is excellent. Specifically you will get beautiful selfies here.

Over all its a very beautiful place. You will get the complete view of shimla from this place. Mall road and Christ Church is near this place, many things to eat and shopping and great place for photoshoot. Must visit 🧡
