MAHARAJA COLLEGE

Maharajah's College, or M. R. College, (Telugu: మహారాజా కళాశాల) is one of the oldest Colleges in India. It was established in 1879 by Sri Poosapati Vijayarama Gajapathi, Maharajah of Vizianagram. National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) assessed and accredited the institution with "B" grade. There are 21 departments offering 19 undergraduate and postgraduate courses. There are about 150 permanent and temporary academic and support staff members with an annual intake of about 2,192 students in 2009.The institution was founded by Sri Poosapati Vijayarama Gajapathi Raju, the Maharajah of Vizianagram. It was started as a middle school in 1857 and upgraded to a high school in 1868. It was upgraded to a college in 1879. Graduation classes were started in 1881 under the patronage of Sri Pusapati Ananda Gajapati Raju.

I am happy to have studied here in this college.The college has well maintained library with many books .Our college has very good infrastructure. Classrooms have very nice ventilation. Hostel facilities are also very nice .Water and electricity facility available here 24 hours. Our college have many highly qualified lectures. I msr rao studied in M R College Vizianagaram from 1972 to 1978 from Intermediate to B.Sc.

In fact My father Late M V Jagannadha Rao worked for MR College for over 3 decades and finally retired as Principal in 1988.

Whenever i think or recollect of MR College student days I get goose bumps, The lecturers the ambience and the gigantic laboratories make me proud. The Physics lab, Chemistry lab and the gas manufacturing plant were Iconic. The teaching staff includes The great Vasantharao Venkata Rao garu who was an Astro Physics giant and many more lecturers and it is not possibke to take names as they are in dozens and I am really proud to be a student if them.

Great college established by Raja's family. Introduced various branches and developed as a autonomous college. connecting students with various universities by conducting seminars / conferences. Students of this college occupied top positions and serving to the society.
