Just Wooow😲. First time I have ever visited into any museum, and this museum is very well established, clean and good for Photography. You can find 19th century items too here, including coins, stamps of every country, old telephones, old cameras etc.

The museum has been established for preservation of materials from the over 120 years of the coal mining history in this part of the world. The Margherita-Ledo coal mining story started in the year 1881 when British-owned Assam Railways and Trading Company (ARTC) discovered the black diamond in this part of the country and the actual mining had started in the year 1884. Since then whatever the company used along with various types of presently available tools, machines, vehicles, camera projectors, and all these antiques including important documents, photographs, etc., have been displayed in the museum for public viewing. The museum will also provide materials for research works in geology and mining. It may also be mentioned that the first Director of the company was Dr. John Berry White who also pioneered the first Medical School at Dibrugarh that has subsequently been upgraded to the present-day Assam Medical College. The inaugural function was also attended by Chief General Manager, NECF, Anil Kr Bora and General Manager Debashish Sarkar, besides other distinguished guests, officers and employees of NECF.
Coal mining is the process of extracting coal from the ground. Coal is valued for its energy content and since the 1880s has been widely used to generate electricity. Steel and cement industries use coal as a fuel for extraction of iron from iron ore and for cement production

Good collection of historical facts and things that showcases the rich and colorful history of the region. It shows how important this areas were during the British raj and how developed we were compared to some of the other regions in India. A must visit if you are going to Margherita.

It can be described as an amazing site to visit since it reveals the History of Margherita, Assam in a wonderful way... It houses the old photos, newspapers, train and car models, etc, which are quite interesting to see... Additionally the real coal tunnel it has can be interesting for children to visit... 😊

To believe the history that the world has been told and is reading about, visit this place. The coal heritage museum speaks in length about how this little abode of nature's love became a queen in one of the most important resources found on this planet: Coal. You can witness the locomotives which are too cool to believe. It also includes some mining experiences (probes) When you leave, you will feel blessed.

1. Well maintained
2. segregation of the valuables done very carefully in a distinct manner.
3. Do enter that small mine, feels like we are actually in those days.
4. Schools must take students and let them write about the past as assignments.
5. Take you to the past.

The place is worth visiting. You will have a close look on the working in a coal mine, the history and the efforts put by the generations to bring up these mines as a national asset. You can invest 2 to 3 hours here. There is a collection of postage stamps, coins and currency notes donated by local people, there are some paintings and some photographs and many equipments used in the coal mines. It is a must visit place, if you are visiting eastern Assam.

It is a nice place, unique, there are flowers decorations, a big sculpture of dynasaur. But the most beautiful thing of this place is its demonstration for coal industry. Such as mine plan of coal, how an Open cast coal mines look like, a well built design of underground mines with several equipment, such as ventilation system, haulage way etc. The backside hall contain mainly information about coal, its history, usage, location etc. That hall is very important for study point of view. The front hall contain several equipment being used in coal mine from past. The hall also demonstrate a nice collection of coins and stamps of several places of the world. We enjoyed it. Hope you will also enjoy.

One must visit this spectacular museum dedicated to coal mining. This may be the only museum of this kind in India.

Very well connected by road from nearest airport and rail heads.

Loved it.
