Mata Tripureshwari around 50 kms from Agartala Rly Stn. is a famous pilgrimage for followers of Hindu faith.
As per Hindu theology, this place is one of the 52 Shakthi Peet where, as per the legend, Mata's fingers fell during the apocalyptic death dance of Lord Shiva called TANDAV NRITYA. This celestial dance is said to be the progenitor of all dance and singing that mankind adopted in various forms.

(As a side note, the NATRAJ posture of Lord Shiva within the metallic circle, representing Brahmanda, the Universe, in its eternal shift between Creation and Destruction, is the core philosophy of Hindu Dharma.

The place can be reached from Agartala by various means, Uber, Hired Cabs, Public, Private Buses but my favourite remains the train ride. A local train takes about an hour to reach the nearest Rly station called UDAIPUR (not to be confused with Rajasthan's). The Railway code for this station is UDPU.
It's not only dirt cheap, but travelling through the hinterland terrain by train gives you a glimpse of not only the village side view of Tripura with meadows, fish and rice farms vying for your attention, but you also get to meet many people from diverse ethnicities mainly Bengalis. For me, Train travel remains till date, the quintessential mode of knowing the local flavour and interacting with local people.

Bengali with Bangladeshi accent is the dominant language spoken by the majority of the population.

The train departs in the morning from Agartala and departs in the evening giving the pilgrims ample time to pray at the temple and also visit nearby protected archealogilly important sites located within a distance of a few kilometres.

When I went there, the train left Agartala at 10.50 am and returned at 3.10 PM.
The Railway times are subject to periodic changes. The same may be confirmed before finalizing your schedule.

Before I went to Bhuvaneshwari temple, I never knew that our state has such a beautiful monument.. I was astonished by the environment and also the monument itself.. The mind instantly diverts to a peaceful state, once you reach there.. Everyone should once visit there with their family.. The place still makes me surprised by the beauty it carries..

Historical Terracota temple built between 1660 to 1675 AD, by Maharaja Govinda Manikya. The temple is in the town of Udaipur that's easily accessed by trains/buses from Agartala. Situated on the banks of River Gomti, this temple is serene and makes for a great photo opportunity. The idyllic life and the slow pace here makes this town worth visiting. Hire a local battery powered rickshaw to go about. While at Udaipur also consider a visit to other gems here, Teen murti mandir (also wonderfully maintained by Archaeological survey of India - ASI). Its amazing to note that this was built in 17th century and still stands tall! Also check out the Royal fort and other ruins right next to this.

It is estimated that the temple was constructed in around 1660 to 1675 AD. Before shifting capital to Agartala, Udaipur was the official residence of the Manikya dynasty and the capital of the kingdom.

Located in the once upon capital during the Kings Reign and the historical city of Tripura. It a small beautiful place, the house of Hindu Goddess Maa Bhubaneshwari. Maintained and well preserved by Archeological Survey. It is mentioned in the work of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore in his Work "Rajarshi".

Bhuvaneshwari Temple is situated near Gomati river. It has ancient temple without an idol. Temple and its surrounding is well maintain which provide fabulous views. From Backside of the temple you can see Gomati river flowing through the greenery. If you are photogenic then you must visit this place. Plenty of open space is available for parking of your vehicle.
