Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary

One of the most amazing places in Western Ghats! The dense forest, the quite ambiance and the biodiversity is just mesmerizing. A must visit place if you are a butterfly lover. The place is open only from 7am to 6pm because of wildlife movement. A great experience visiting here.

One more gem of Western ghats. Bhimagad forest is pristine, dense and undisturbed. This range bordering 3 states and is home to many wild animals. It has bat cave with thousands of bats resign during day time. This forest is famous for Tigers, leopards, Deer, different variety of frogs, any many more wild life

Total of 19,000 hectares of reserve forest. The jungle mostly known for the rare black panthers, wroughton bats. Forest also accommodates tigers, bears, gaurs, sambars and deers.

At the beginning of the journey, forest dept. has built a beautiful tent houses and cottages, lunch area and so on. Costs around ₹2500 per night per room (I felt little exorbitant for the kind of rooms, but official say for all reserve forest on India, rates are same & set by central) and dormitories cost around ₹200. Well maintained and staff is humble & cooks tasty food.

Overall a good experience. Thanks to staff for taking around and trekking was amazing.

It's really amazing ride at this place ... but be care full all the time while driving because sharp and blind curves are their which may lead to sudden choke in attention ... biker be care full after 6pm or evening because wild animals like elephant , bear , fox etc might be crossing roads... and you will get fuel in bottles (petrol) in Anmod ( petrol stations not their )
Or you have to move towards Khanapur.

13 km trek in thick dense forest.. A wonderful trek to "Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary." In the Western Ghats this forest is protected area..We need to get permission letter from the DFO (Deputy Conservator of Forest) and then proceed ahead..Sanctuary covers an area of about 73,5238 sq mi of forest area..Sanctuary is home for plenty of birds and animals like TIGER, leopard, gaur, sloth bear, sambar, foxes, wild dogs, king cobra, rare black panther and many more specie's..The Barapede Caves are very famous here in Bhimgad..

This road further connects to Anmod village, Karnataka which is Karnataka-Goa border.

Well managed Wildlife Sanctuary, rich biosphere, fantastic views and a model for conservation.

Oh boy ! What a drive it was cutting through the Bhimgad wildlife sanctuary jungles on my drive from Kolhapur to Goa !!!!........totally quiet, sometimes to the point of becoming eerie with very minimal traffic (everyone seems so unsure of oneself as to where one is headed :))
Pristine untouched jungles with thick foliage ....spotted a few monkeys too but not much else...a large part of the route was a no road section ( so bump jerk swerve swivel through what you can make of the narrow pathway...and keep moving !! ; i did not dare to stop or even get out of the car during this leg of the drive through what seemed like an unending expanse of forest :)))
This route apparently cuts through in to Goa and is open for use only from 6am to 6pm !

This wildlife sanctuary falls in between while driving to Goa via Belgaum... A 54 km single road journey through the forest. Open from 6:00 to 18:00 hrs only. Getting down of the car is strictly not recommended.

Very nice drive through this sanctuary..Rocking view... Must visit please... We visited this place while doing coastal drive from Mumbai to Goa...

We used this route to enter in South Goa. Entry to this road is from 6.00 AM to 6.00 PM. As per forest guidelines. Road is ok.

Wonderful forest , a very peaceful place

Very well protected and controlled forest area. Worth the visit in gold if you're looking for serenity and calm in lap of nature.
Its a good idea to have your own vehicle. The lack of amenities is more than made up for virgin forest - actually its welcome - since the "selfie" tourists are absent :)

It's Really Amazing Jungle Safari

The road to this sanctuary is closed after evening 6 to morning 6. Road width is less just a vehicle can pass @ at time. If any breakdown of vehicle then there is no help near. Just 1-2 town near the road.
Very good maintained. Spotted a few deers. Restrictions are there.

One of the virgin forests of karnataka where you can see lot of animals... u can even spot a tiger if lucky...
Need a jeep (4 wheel drive car) lot of scenic beauty & waterfalls
