OLAICHANDI MATA MANDIR

Once you get down at Bandel railway station it becomes quite apparent that something is happening around the town. Hordes of photographers can be seen wandering around the station exit so you have no chance of getting lost. You need to go to a place called Ulaichandi Tala where there is a very famous temple by the name of Sri Sri Ulaichandi Mata Thakurani Mondir. All the activities will happen around this temple so you have to somehow reach this place.

You can avail a share auto or book a full battery operated rickshaw. Most roads will be closed to vehicle traffic due to the festival so ideally, you need to reach by 10 AM, or else you might have to walk to this temple from the station. No sooner we left the station in an auto we saw many groups of devotees going in procession. Usually, there is one person who will be fasting and is set to do all the religious activities. All his or her relatives and family members travel along with them to encourage them to push on. The designated person who would be performing the rituals has usually gone through day’s preparation which involves fasting, celibacy, eating only pure vegetarian food, etc. Men usually do not shave or comb their hairs, they need to spend time contemplating the activities that have been planned as a part of the rituals. They must speak less and try to build a channel of communication with the divine forces.

On the final day, most of them are exhausted and would need all the support from the crowd and their loved ones. The procession usually takes them from their home towards the temple. They walk bare feet in the summer heat, some carry pots of milk which are used for the offering.

Nice Place.. Cleanliness is maintained very well over here. The committee that maintains everything is awesome. The puja timings and all they are maintained, very efficiently... The place always have a decent crowd but it is maintained efficiently. Overall a cool place to visit in the evenings when you would like to pray.

Well maintained temple. Puja process was systematic. There was no pressure for donation which was very good.

Joi Maa Olaichandi 🙏... This local and historical temple is very old and holds an annual special puja which occurs today itself and all the local people visit this shine on this auspicious day to offer prayers to the 'Jagrata Devi'... And added attraction is the mela that is held in the locality and is specially liked by the kids and local children !!

One the oldest shakti temple situated in Bandel Hooghly area. 4 to 5 km from g.t. road. After holis next Saturday the main festival has taken in well known this place named by this shrine a big mela has organised by the puja committee. So many devotees are theke in that specific time. Best spiritual temple so far my knowledge in hoogly chinsurah area. I feel peace in mind while I visit ma olaichondi temple. Nearest station Bandel. Toto(electrically operated Rickshaw) & CNG Rickshaw are available to reach Ma olaichondi Temple.

One of the most underrated temples in India.Superbly neat and clean temple. The temple was established by the local dacoits in the area around 400 yrs ago.

There is no idol of the divine in this temple since she is "nirakaar"(formless).

Legends say human sacrifice took place in this temple till the time the British declared the act unlawful.

It is believed that the divine is still "jagrit"(active) in this temple despite the era being Kaliyug.

You should come here to spend your devotional time. Very good and mind refreshing place.

Very excellent place for religious people. This place is in my locality and also known for many mysterious stories regarding maa Olaichandi. You can find a fare during holi.

This is a Hindu temple, and there's Olaichandi Mata Goddess. Every year a grand puja festival is organised, after the festival of Holi, along with a grand fair.

Olaichandi Maa is one form of Maa Kali. In the month of March there is a fair in the temple vicinity for couple of days. Jai Maa Kali.
