Sandeshwar Temple

This temple is one of the oldest Shiv temples in Chinsurah. Situated on the banks of the Ganges, at Sandeshwartala (named after Sandeshwar Jiu). The structure of the temple made of marble stones is quite unique. During the month of Chaitra special pujas are performed and many devotees visit the temple. But not only Sandeshwar temple, there are many other temples including Siddheswari Kali temple, Banku Bihari temple, Jogadya Durga temple, Ulai Chandi temple in this temple premises. The Ganga ghat next to the temple is also quite pleasing.

Sandeswar is among One of the oldest temple in Chinsurah, Hooghly beside the Hooghly river banks.

A beautiful place by the Ganges, ideal for evening stroll or morning walk. SandeswarTala Temple is reported to be quiet old, and has huge religious and cultural significance locally. It is a peaceful place, where one can meditate or just enjoy the cool breeze of the river.
The temple due to renovation work look quiet new but within the temple complex there are few rock cut idols, which may have historic origin.

Around 500 years ago, this place was a burning ground. Mr. Digambar Halder was a Brahmin and he lived near to this burning ground. One night after saw a dream, he rescued a Shiv Linga along with other things from the river core. Later he built a temple for the Shiva Linga. Since then, Lord Shiva is worshipped as "Shandeshwor".

The temple was reconstructed using Marble Stones in the year of 1979. The cost of reconstruction was arranged from a Public Fund. It is heard that Mahanayak Uttam Kumar donated money during the reconstruction.

"Shiber Gajan" is one of the important festival organized here. You can also visit other temples in the same premise like Siddheshwari Kali Maa, Jogadya Maa, Maa Olaichandi. The river view of Shandeshwor Tala is simply awesome.

Sandeswartala is a religious and a holy place. It is located just beside the holy river Ganges. There are many temples are there beside the Sandeswar temple. There are temples of Goddess Durga, Kali, Lord Krishna and Shiva and many other. The environment is very calm and peaceful. U can visit the place.

Great temple of lord Shiva we had an outling in chinsurah so we decided to go to the famous sandeshwar temple . The temple is huge as you people's can see in the picture . And ganges river is flowing to the south side of the great temple . Great temple and mind blowing experience

I feel the spiritual touch in me, in this temple. You can spend hours just enjoying the beauty of nature at Ganges ghat adjacent to it. It one of the oldest Lord Shiva temple.

Ethnic structure. Neatly designed and decorated.calm and cool atmosphere. Clean and hygienic floors. Crowded in occasion. Situated by the side of Ganges. Beautiful park to rest. Overall nice place to visit.

It is a holy place, where goddess lord Shiva is present and the place is very calm and quiet. it has beautiful real story behind making of Sandeshwar Temple. The Ganga ghat for bathing is like baranashi ghat. The scenic beauty of this place is very charming. And there are so many temple of Hindu debdebi .

Dedicated to Lord Shiva the Sandeshwari Temple complex houses several other smaller temple and Shrines. The temple also houses two brass drums and a Shiva linga, which are taken out for public display on the last day of the Bengali calendar.
