Tropic of Cancer

It was a nice experience of seeing a virtual line as physical on the earth. This line is across the road. Proper direction is also encrypted on a stone on this line. People stop here and take photographs.

The Tropic of Cancer is an imaginary line that runs across the globe at a latitude of about 23.5 degrees north of the equator.
The Tropic of Cancer marks the furthest north latitude where the sun can appear directly overhead at noon

Mizoram Remote Sensing Application Centre (MIRSAC), directorate of science & technology and Geography Association of Mizoram (GAM) have erected a hoarding and a stone at Maubuang, about 35 kms south of Aizawl, on Aizawl-Lunglei road, which is now identified as the exact location where the Tropic of Cancer passes through.

It's a must visit if you come to Mizoram.

The Tropic of Cancer line falls on the route from Aizawl to Lunglei, before Hmuifang. It is something that you can spend some time,around 10 - 15 mins. It is literally on the road so you cannot miss it. There is a plaque created where the details are there. There is also a small photo op memorial that has been made where you can take photos, but unfortunately it was vandalised slightly by some people so it was slightly disappointing.
Since it is on the literal highway and in a slight turn, be careful while clicking photos. There is enough shade as well so you won't have any issues.
Definitely something worth stopping by and havingba look and some photos.

Surreal feeling

Feels like a definite tick off the bucket list

Always wanted to review a line of latitude.
Though it was closed on the day we can safely say it's an interesting roadside attraction.

In India Tropic of Cancer passes through 8 states in India which includes Mizoram. I'm proud to express my experience and i hope this could be a good site attraction for tourist aa well.

Note: Due to wobble of Earth the Tropic of Cancer is shifting southward at 15 metres, per year. so sign boards placed any where has to be updated every year. Best is, one should carry GPS app in your smart phone for exact co-odinates.

The tropic of Cancer crossing, that place is is one of the highlight place in Mizoram very nice view of hills of Mizoram

A geographical landmark which seems to be ignored by the majority. Worth stopping on the way and walking down the chequered line. Such places are exploited by other countries for their geographical significance. Doesn't seem to stir much interest here.

The tropic of Cancer passes through 8 states in the country-Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tripura and Mizoram is one of them
