Jakhu Ropeway Shimla

This is a fairly small ropeway but it provides an astounding view of Shimla and nearby hills. There is a 10 min hike to reach the boarding point from Mall Road. The facility in itself is good, snacks are available at the terminal.

The Jakhoo Shimla rope way is a cool ride where you get to go up and down on a rope for only 490 rupees per person. It's a quick journey, just 5 minutes, and you're there! If you're into adventure and want to try something different, the price is okay. But if you're not too fussed about rope ways, you can also get a cab for 400 rupees. Plus, if you go with friends or family, it could be cheaper per person.

The staff at the rope way are really nice and helpful, and the cars are super clean, so you feel safe and comfy. And the best part? You get an amazing view of Shimla town! It's like you're flying above the houses and streets.

I went in winter, and oh boy, it was like stepping into a winter wonderland! Everything was covered in snow, and it was so pretty. If you love snow, you'll love visiting during winter.

Overall, if you're up for a little adventure and want to see Shimla from a bird's-eye view, the Jakhoo Shimla rope way is a fun choice. But if you prefer sticking to the ground, there are other ways to get around. Either way, you'll have a great time exploring this beautiful town!

Good service. Neat and clean ropeway. Just took few mints to reach either way. Little scary for people who dont like heights, but full safety shown there with instructions on wall for proper evacuation. The view is so beautiful from there. Just get relaxed to the experience. Better than walking all the way up to temple. Just quick walk from mall road. Around 490 each person ticket.

It's awesome experience. The rope way is very stable and you can have proper view of the valley while enjoying. Its easy to get tickets and board. Also the temple is brilliant and sacred. Must visit.

One side ride takes around 7 min. Tickets were available easily on ground floor but there is some wait time to get on the ride. Waiting area is on higher floor from where ropeway starts, lift is there to take up the floor. Each cabin can sit 6 people. View of Shimla and surrounding mountains is awesome.

They have maintained it well and you will get a good view during sunrise and sunsets.

Was visiting after a very long time, and things have really improved. The agents selling Ropeway tickets on the Ridge are authorized vendors. There is a wait time of 35-40 minutes for the turn, which essentially reduces the footfalls at the temple and hence it is efficient.

I didn’t try the ropeway.. but the Jakhu Ropeway in Shimla offers a thrilling and scenic ride that allows visitors to appreciate the natural beauty of the region. It is a fantastic way to capture panoramic views, enjoy a peaceful temple visit, and create lasting memories. Just make sure to allocate enough time for your visit and be prepared for potential crowds.

It was a wonderful ride with good view of the city and lord Hanuman’s idol. Getting to the Ropeway station was a leisure walk through the Mall Road. Wait time was around 45 minutes for us both ways- could be because we went on Sunday.

You can get this ropeway at mall road behind ridge clock tower or Christ church. Ropeway is big one, it takes more than 6 minutes from mall road to jukhu temple through this Ropeway. I mean travel time of Ropeway is more than 6 mins single side. Views and scenic beauty is awesome .. specially shimla city look beautiful and surrounding hills as well.
But price is bit costly. Up down both side one ticket 480. And single side 265.. it's bit costly.

Must try thing in shimla if you are visiting Jakhu hill, we have 3 options to reach Jakhu temple one is rope way, 2nd one is car/cab and the final one is steps/walk. Jakhu ropeway is bit over priced for the distance and time we spent but the quality they ade maintaining is good.

For one way it costs around 265/290, for up and down it costs around 500, The views we experience in the winter evening is breathtaking and awesome, check out my images

It was a pretty good experience. The cable car ride is a must do when you visit jhaku temple. Especially in the winters you can witness the snowfall. the view is mesmerizing. The price for the ticket to and fro was 450 per person. And to be honest the cafeteria in the waiting area isn't that great just for a softie they are charging Rs70 and it doesn't even taste good.

Such a beautiful experience. You must try it! Please factor in 45 min waiting for ropeway on busy days. The ticket seller won't tell you. I am. But overall the ropeway is an excellent one. Really a long one, not a short ropeway. Views are spectacular.

One should try this ropeway at Jakhu temple to see the beauty of Shimla from top

The quality of the ropeway is awesome. The view is great it might be a bit over priced but that is how touristy things are. There is refreshments while you wait for the ride. It’s a decent walk from the church so if you have people who are uncomfortable walking keep that in mind. There is a cab service to that spot. The cab service to Jakhu is further distance from the ropeway so don’t believe what they are saying.

Very beautiful, the Distance will take around 5-7 minutes approx. Operates from 9 am to 7 pm. Costs is around Rs.300 for one side and Rs.550 for adult & Rs.450/- for child for return journey with taxes. The Cafe in the waiting area at the station downhill could have only 2 beverage (Tea & Coffee) and popcorn options. Could have been better! Must visit with family.
