This property was on my radar since the pre-covid era, when I finally visited it, it was absolutely worth the wait!

What you get - The sweetest and warmest Kinnauri family that have opened up their homes for us to experience their culture and way of living. Delicious home cooked food - Aunty made the local dish Siddu for me to try. Most of the food is home grown and is completely organic. Ajay makes the best coffee you can ask for!
They grow a variety of apples, other fruits and vegetables - interesting to learn about everything they try in their farm.
Their home is right next to the Baspa river, which makes your stay therapeutic. You can also hike to nearby villages - Sangla and Batseri. Ajay is kind enough to take out time from his busy schedule and show around.

What you dont get - If you prefer staying indoors with TV and are looking for a property where you don’t have to walk much, then this isn’t the place for you.

This place allows a complete culture immersion, where you can literally forget the outside world and soak in the beauty of nature.
My stay was for 2 days but I extended it by a few more days and still couldn’t get enough!!

Thank you Ajay and Aunty for such a memorable stay! 🙏🏻 You guys are the best!!

I stayed here for 5 days and it has been an absolute delight. Ajay is a wonderful host and so is his family. The stay is cozy, comfortable and just 5 minutes away from the river. I could hear the river while I was in my room and it was the most calming experience. The view from the room was good as well. Ajay makes the most amazing food and the coffee I have ever had. I wish I could stay longer. It is a must stay and I would definitely recommend it.

I had ear marked this place couple of years back and was able to stay here on my recent trip to Spiti Valley. Pints to note is that it will give you a authentic home stay experience in the hills. Good homely food. great hosts. A walk down towards River. Apple Orchard. Yes a hit of walk reyired to reach the place.. Nothing that one can't do for such a place.

Beautiful HOMEstay, amazing hospitality, delicious food. All the food that is provided is organically grown. The ambience of the entire premise is extremely positive. It is hosted by a lovely family. Couldn't have found a better place than this. Initially decided to stay here for a night but ended up staying for 4 days. Such is the vibe of the place. It's so much better than any hotel or any other homestay in the entire region.
Would definitely recommend people to visit the place if you're searching for peace, positive energies and comfortable stay all at the same time. Lots of Love ❤❤

For those who want to escape from the crowd of chitkul, it's a perfect stay. The river nearby is a cherry on the top. Lovely people and one of the best stays we ever had!

It’s a great place to stay, location is very beautiful and close to nature. Baspa river flows right in front of the stay. Home is very well maintained & all the family members ( Ajay ( elder brother), Abay ( yonger bro) & their parents were so polite & friendly, Upon arrival & departure Ajay helped to get laggage to destination, he also cooks dalicious food. Yonger brother Abay has abundent knowledge about tourist places & it's significance.

Really loved the food served, especially the apples.

Rooms were spacious and comfortable.

I highly recommend this place for everyone who would visit Sangla/ Chitkul.

Thank you Aunty ( the way she calls betiya / beta really feels so close to heart) & whole family for being so nice & making feel homestay as real home.

Me and my wife were on a bagpack trip to Kinnaur and Spiti. We had stayed here for two nights. Its a beautiful home with amazing location between the mountains and river baspa flowing nearby the farming fields. We were to stay for one night but extended our stay for another one night.

The owner family is very loving and helpful, very warm and always smiling. Loved the home food they provide. Would love to visit it again and just stay here for more number of days.

Would definitely recommend to everyone planning a trip to chitkul.

Thank you Ajai for making our trip memorable. :)

The location was amazing and our hosts were really nice. Ajay cooked delicious food for us and especially palak paneer was yummy. We stayed for one night and we recommend that atleast to stay for 2 nights to explore near by sights (basteri village and trek to the mountain). It was a cosy and peaceful stay.

What a wonderful stay I had with "bhandari" homestay family amazing location mesmerising view of the valley and walking distance for the river site, very humble owner !!! Life time experience for me .
Certain things to be considered-1. It's not a hotel ,it's abhomesata so kindly don't expect a hotel treatment. 2. If people need a VIP treatment kindly book in hotels homestay is not appropriate for them. 3. You will get only food that is prepared for the owner family so if you want chooses in the food kindly arrange by your own...tho though food was amazing nice "mutton curry" and vegetables .
I will recommend this homestay for people who wants to learn the kinnor culture ... Good stay for families, individuals ,bikers, explorores.
Not a good place for who wants VIP treatment!!!
Hope this review will help.

One of the most beautiful experiences I've had while travelling across Himachal.

I'll recommend everyone to stay with this sweet family, and experience a great stay midst silent part of the mountain, and rejuvenate themselves with beautiful views of mountains all around.

This is one of the best places to be in Sangla valley. The homestay is situated in Batseri village. The host owns apple farms. Infact the apple farms are around the homestay. The place is really relaxing. Ajay is a very helpful person. The quality and taste of food is top. They prepare really delicious food. They will provide you unlimited tea coffee for free. I really enjoyed my stay here. Highly recommended for couples. The way to homestay start from kinnar camps. And way to kinnar camps is steep donwards from sangla chitkul road. Chhitkul village is 9km from here. Will take around 1 hr to reach chhitkul from here. You will have to walk from kinnar camps to the homestay. Host will pick you up from kinnar camps. I did not find any negative thing about the homestay. The host is a fan of patanjali so you will find almost everthing of patanjali. There is no geyser but ajay will provide hotwater. Hosts family lives in the upper floor of the homestay. Family includes father, mother and brother. For all this, they dont charge a bomb. A must for a traveller.

A home away from home.
Since when i started travelling and developed a craving for travelling, i always wanted to stay with the locales and this time my dream came true, when i explored Bhandari Homestay. Staying in the apple orchards, trailing through the mountain and strolling down to the Baspa River was mesmerizing. Eventhough it was june but the weather was cold, which was made cozy and comfortable
By the hosts and the cozy wooden rooms with thick quilts. To top it all, the hospitality of the hosts, the simple pure homecooked food, pure desi ghee, milk, lassi and butter everything was sumptuous. The hosts gave us complete knowledge about the himachali history, culture and even served us a traditional yummm dish named 'Siddu'. They were very courteous. Ajay, Abhay, aunty and Uncle all were loving and treated us as family. There pet dogs especially Emily was cute. I am waiting to visit them again so that we can buy a crate full of organic apples.
Thanks for a memorable stay, Ajay.

Excellent and memorable stay amidst the organic apple garden. This homestay is a perfect blend of himachal cultural roots, emotional touch with personalised attention which people living in urban region crave for. The food which is something unmatched, what even great chefs cant cook. The reason being pure ingredients grown locally with added organic ghee and butter of their in house cattle. Isnt it something that city people long for. Thumbs up to this homestay.

Authentic Kinnauri experience
2018: June 25: Just back from a trip through Kinnaur / Sangla Valley. Unforgettable experience. Traditional villages, tiny bazaars, glacier streams, forests, orchards, so many kind, open-hearted people, all around the breath-taking mountains and not to forget the star-filled night sky uncorrupted by city lights. Traveled everywhere by state buses. Often crowded but real budget-extenders. And the drivers! Those Discovery channel danger-road truckers are wuss compared to HRTC drivers. It takes a REAL man to take a bus up and down those mountain roads In the course of the whole trip the best place I stayed was an actual Kinnauri home -- farmer and his family, apple trees all around, the Baspa river not even five minutes walk away. They had a simple but spacious room for me with clean bedding. Big plus point: a clean toilet and bathroom. Hot water in the morning! The lady of the house is good cook and would have fed me enough to pack on the pounds (but I stuck to my diet!) This house is at Batseri village. Unlike Sangla or even Chitkul, Batseri is not at all tourist-y. This may be because it is a little ways off the road. Several trails start from Batseri. For instance you can walk up to the glacier. This is the home of Mr and Mrs Bhandari. You can reach them on their son's phone (Abhay Bhandari) +91-89881 10033. Just to make it clear: this is a family place; they are not going to tolerate drunkards and drug addicts,
Dona Suri
